Apply NowRhodes College seeks a Director of Athletic Giving & Sr. Development Officer. This position is responsible for procuring annual, restricted, major and deferred gifts to the College in accordance with the department’s goals. Focus on working directly with the Athletic Department to create strategic plans to procure both annual and capital gifts for this area all facilitated through the Development Office. Specific emphasis on securing gifts and pledges primarily in the $1,000 – $1 million range.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree, required.
This position requires a valid driver’s license, a good driving record, and must be insurable by the College’s insurance carrier.
3-5 years of increasing development experience preferably at an educational institution or demonstrated knowledge in marketing, student recruitment and/or sales required.
Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities, to solve problems and demonstrate leadership skills is required.
Ability to relate well to the public is a must.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office required.
A credit check is required during the time of background.
Job Responsibilities:
Cultivate prospects, solicit major and deferred gifts and leadership annual gifts, and provide stewardship for portfolio of donors. This requires intense focus on one-on-one visits with assigned prospects and donors, developing strategy, designing proposals and closing gifts. Extensive travel at times to make the visits is required, as well as occasional night/weekend availability.
Develop and manage annual and major gift campaigns strategically aligned with the College’s objectives for the Athletic Department including establishing and maintaining relationships with athletic department staff, and a portfolio of former players and athletic parents.
Maintains favorable relationships with a portfolio of major gift donors.
Work with members of the division staff to broaden the base of gift prospects and to develop appropriate programs to meet the College’s highest funding priorities.
Develop and implement a strategy for a robust athletic giving program which includes athletic parent and alumni engagement in addition to annual giving to the Lynx Club and capital projects.
Travel, nights and weekend work is required.
Physical Demands:
Light work: General office environment that requires sitting on a constant basis.
The candidate will perform computer work, keyboard use, and telecommunications on a frequent basis.
Manual dexterity will be required to perform keyboard and writing activities on a frequent basis.
Visual acuity is required on a frequent basis to read and review print and electronic documents.
Reaching and pushing/pulling with a force of up to 10lbs will be performed on a rare basis.
Mobility of the candidate will be sufficient to allow moving about the office and to and from the building on an occasional basis.
The physical demands must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
