Job Description

The University of Iowa Department of Athletics seeks applications for a Director of Athletic Performance. This is a full-time (at-will and FLSA-exempt) position which includes full University benefits. The University of Iowa is an NCAA Division I institution and a member of the Big Ten Conference. The Department of Athletics manages 22 varsity sports programs and related events with a workforce of approximately 245 regular employees and 300 temporary employees. Responsibilities: The Director of Athletic Performance is responsible for the management and administration of all phases of a competitive Division I sports performance program that (a) recruits, retains and graduates high caliber student-athletes with a high level of satisfaction, (b) competes successfully within the Big TenSave Conference, and (c) maintains a program and staff that demonstrates high ethical standards.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent);
  • CSCCa Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) or NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS);
  • Minimum of five years working experience as a strength and conditioning coach of collegiate student-athletes in the following areas:

    • Designing speed, strength, and conditioning programs in a progressive manner
    • Executing the rehabilitative phase of injury recovery;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as demonstrated through public speaking engagements, clinician experience, and/or use of effective and creative training/coaching techniques;
