JOB SUMMARY

The Director of Athletics provides strategic leadership to develop, organize and implement the division's goals and objectives of providing a successful athletic program consisting of 14 intercollegiate teams and recreational programs. The Director of Athletics has oversight of the coaching staff and administrative staff and collaborates with all stakeholders of the university as well as alumni, parents and community constituents.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

  • Ensure compliance with the policies and procedures of the University, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA III), the Atlantic East Athletic Conference, the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NECA), the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Association (ECAC), the Metropolitan Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (MIWA) and applicable state and federal guidelines; prepare mandatory reports ensuring regulatory compliance including but not limited to: all end of year financial reports, the Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act and additional Department, University, Conference, and NCAA reports; assists in the development of operating policy for the Department of Athletics that supports the mission of the University and the state, regional and national athletic governing bodies and conferences; Supervise all coaches and department.
  • Oversee all athletics facilities and has responsibility for the University's 14 intercollegiate athletic programs, 3 club teams as well as auxiliary service areas; Oversee departmental operations including but not limited to scheduling of all intercollegiate team contest; game management and operation; scheduling of indoor/outdoor athletic facilities; Oversee site administration scheduling for home game management; ensure athletic facilities are properly maintained according to conference and NCAA standards.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining the annual departmental budget and has oversight of the department's fundraising initiatives; oversee equipment purchases for 14 varsity sports as well as major equipment purchases for the Athletic Department; supervise fundraising activities for the Cyclone Athletic Fund including annual golf outing and Cyclone Athletic Booster Clubs; supervise fundraising activities for intercollegiate athletic programs.
  • Represents the athletics program and communicating the mission of the University with many stakeholders, including but not limited to student‐athletes, parents of student‐athletes, prospective students, alumni, campus and local community members, off‐campus constituents, sponsors, media and others who support the intercollegiate athletic programs; Promote the University and the Athletic Department through public relations activities and the Sports Information Director; Attend and participate in departmental, conference, and University‐wide meetings related to duties and responsibilities; Serve on departmental, University, conference, regional and national committees.
