Graduation from an accredited institution with a master’s degree in Sports Management, Physical Education, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. A Bachelor’s degree with significant experience in athletic administration may be considered. 1. Leadership & Management:
• Provide overall leadership for the athletic department, ensuring alignment with the college's mission and goals.
• Maintain and develop an athletics culture that aligns with the college’s culture of personalized education, student success, confidence building, and broad student engagement in a safe environment.
• Work closely with Student Affairs to integrate athletics experiences into engagement for all students.
• Supervise athletic coaches and staff, including hiring, training, and evaluating staff performance.
• Promote a culture of sportsmanship, academic excellence, and personal growth for student-athletes.
• Oversee the Horne Activity Center and Bergesen Athletic Center functions and personnel.
• Provide leadership and support to athletic personnel and athletes on the Richfield campus.
• Represent Snow College and collaborate and communicate with other athletic directors and presidents from the Scenic West Athletic Conference.
2. Program Development:
• Oversee the college's intercollegiate athletic programs, ensuring a diverse range of opportunities for student-athletes.
• Assist and mentor coaches in striving for regional and national excellence.
• Ensure that all programs are compliant with NJCAA, NCAA, and college policies and standards.
• Develop strategies to recruit student-athletes and ensure a balance between academic and athletic commitments.
• Oversee the intramurals program for a variety of students on both campuses.
3. Budget & Financial Managemen t:
• Prepare and manage the athletic department budget, including expenditures for equipment, travel, and facilities.
• Identify and pursue revenue-generating opportunities such as fundraising, sponsorships, and partnerships with local organizations.
• Monitor financial reports and ensure compliance with financial guidelines.
4. Compliance & Policy Oversight:
• Ensure all athletic programs adhere to NJCAA, state, and federal laws and regulations.
• Maintain and enforce policies related to student-athlete eligibility, academic performance, and conduct.
• Stay current with changes in regulations and standards impacting athletics.
5. Facilities Management:
• Oversee the use and maintenance of athletic facilities and fields, ensuring they meet safety and accessibility standards.
• Coordinate schedules for practice and competition events, including facility reservations and management of equipment.
6. Student-Athlete Welfare:
• Ensure that all student-athletes are supported academically, physically, and emotionally.
• Work closely with Student Affairs to facilitate programs that promote student-athlete success, including tutoring, counseling, and career services.
• Address any issues or concerns related to student-athletes and ensure proper follow-up and resolution.
7. Public Relations & Marketing:
• Supervise the sports information officer (SIO) and serve as the primary spokesperson for the athletic department, promoting athletics through media, community engagement, and college events.
• Develop and implement strategies to increase attendance at games, build community support, and enhance the overall visibility of athletic programs.
• Work with the college’s marketing department to promote athletics and recruit new students.
8. Event Management:
• Coordinate logistics for home athletic events, including travel arrangements, facilities, staffing, and game-day operations.
• Ensure that all events run smoothly and in accordance with college policies.
9. Reporting & Assessment:
• Prepare and present regular reports on the performance and status of the athletic programs to college administration.
• Assess the effectiveness of athletic programs and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
• The position reports directly to the college president.
Knowledge
• Athletic Program Management: In-depth knowledge of athletic administration, including strategic planning, program development, and the coordination of intercollegiate sports programs, as well as a commitment to transparency.
• Compliance and Regulations: Strong understanding of NJCAA, NCAA, and other relevant rules and regulations governing collegiate athletics, including student-athlete eligibility, recruitment, and conduct.
• Budgeting and Financial Management: Proficient in developing, managing, and forecasting budgets, including the ability to track spending, stay within budgetary parameters, and identify cost-saving measures.
• Event Planning and Facility Management: Knowledge of best practices for managing athletic events, including logistics, facility use, and staffing.
• Recruitment Practices: Understanding of recruitment strategies and regulations for student-athletes, including the ability to attract talent and communicate the balance between academics and athletics.

• Leadership and Staff Supervision: Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage, motivate, and evaluate coaches and staff to achieve the department’s objectives.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present complex information to various stakeholders, including administration, coaches, student-athletes, and the community.
• Interpersonal and Relationship-Building: Skilled in building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders, such as faculty, alumni, community partners, and athletic associations.
