Compensation and Benefits
Compensation is commensurate with candidate experience, estimated between $340,000 to $390,000 per year. This is a CSU Management Personnel Plan (MPP) position.
Positions at Fresno State are to perform their work onsite. Some positions, depending upon University needs and operations, may be eligible for remote work, one day per week, pursuant to Fresno State's remote work guidelines and the CSU policy.
The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 15 paid holidays a year. Job Summary
The Director of Athletics (Administrator IV) is responsible for providing leadership and administrative oversight for a Division I Intercollegiate Athletics Program with a rich history of tradition and community support. The Director will be required to manage the Athletic Department in accordance with NCAA, CSU and institutional policies. The Director works closely with the University President to develop goals that will continue to ensure successful student-athlete performance both on and off the field. The Director will communicate regularly, and transparently, with the University President on all pressing and important matters concerning Athletics. The Director is expected to engage effectively with the academic community including the Faculty Athletic Representative (FAR). The Director plans, organizes and directs the activities of the coaching and administrative staff and oversees the daily operations and event management of various athletic venues. The Director will ensure a commitment to academic success and progress, compliance with NCAA rules and regulations, and Title IX for equity and diversity in all athletics programs and facilities. In addition, in close collaboration with the Vice President of Administration & Chief Financial Officer, the Director will provide leadership and oversight to ensure that the Department of Athletics operates within approved annual budget plans approved by the Fresno State Athletic Corporation Board of Directors. The Director will ensure the appropriate and equitable expenditure of financial resources; implement a strong and effective marketing and promotions program; work closely with the Vice President for University Advancement to lead and direct all athletic fundraising activities; and participate in a variety of community-based activities and events that help to promote the University and the Athletics Program.

Key Selection Criteria
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Five (5) years of senior level experience in college athletics administration
• Master’s Degree or equivalent preferred
• Five (5) years of experience as a Director of Athletics (Division I) preferred
• Excellent administrative and financial management skills
• Thorough knowledge of NCAA rules
• Demonstrated ability to:
o Work collaboratively and effectively with a culturally and ethnically diverse population
o Lead and fundraise for comprehensive campaigns
o Recruit and mentor coaching staff
o Establish and achieve department goals that align with the University’s Strategic Plan
• Commitment to the academic mission and success of student-athletes
