Bismarck State College is on the move, and we’re looking for a strong leader ready to step up to the plate as our next Director of Athletics. This is more than just a position—it’s an opportunity to set the tone, build the team, and take our athletic programs to the next level as we continue to grow.
As the Director of Athletics, you’ll oversee the development, management, and day-to-day coordination of both traditional and non-traditional sports programs. From supervising talented coaches to championing compliance, fundraising, and community partnerships, this role is all about creating opportunities for student-athletes to shine both on the field and in the classroom.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises eight benefited positions, contract coaches, work-study students, and part-time temporary staff.
Minimum Requirements: - Master’s degree and two years of related administrative experience, or a bachelor’s degree and four years of related administrative experience. - Five years’ experience as a full-time head coach, or assistant athletic director in a college or university.
Five years of experience in managing and supervising employees.
Strong oral and written communication and budgeting skills.
Demonstrate strong relationship-building skills both with internal and external partners to build and sustain a competitive college athletic department.
Preferred Qualifications: - Demonstrated management, organizational skills, budgeting, and fundraising skills to operate a 4-year college athletic department. - Proven successful experience in a comparable athletic administration position. - A leader who is dedicated to student success, a student-centered educational model.
