The Director of Athletics Business Operations is responsible for oversight of daily business operations for
UIW
Athletics. This role serves as the department leader on fiscal policies and processes, in adherence to the University’s standards and practices. The Director of Athletics Business Operations reports to the Senior Associate Athletic Director of Administration.

Job Duties

| Description of Job Duties |
- Provides leadership, direction, and management of the Athletics financial services team.
- Provides strategic recommendations to the Athletic Director and members of the senior staff.
- Manages the processes for financial forecasting and budgets and oversees the preparation of all financial reporting.
- Advises on long-term business and financial planning.
- Establishes and develops relations with members of the UIW Office of Finance and Administration, other key University stakeholders and external partners.
- Ensures that financial processing functions (which may include Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Purchasing) are performed with accuracy and that daily operations run smoothly.
- Completes all mandated financial reports, such as the Federal EADA Report, NCAA/AUP Report, Conference Office Requests, etc.
- Assesses, recommends, documents, and implements controls as needed to ensure financial processes maintain compliance with federal and state requirements, internal financial and audit policies.
- Applies a wide variety of internal and external policies and regulations to address a range of issues, such as NCAA compliance, tax implications, recovery of cash, risk management, and the organized implementation of a diverse range of financial services for students and departments.
- Reviews and approves financial transactions, including purchase orders, procurement cards, vouchers, travel vouchers, financial aid payments, etc.
- Develops, documents, and implements procedures for financial activities to ensure that UIW Athletics is running as efficiently and effectively as possible.
- Reviews, reconciles, and tracks required external revenues on a monthly basis.
- Works with revenue generation units to identify, reconcile, and rectify variances between the Athletic Department’s system and University general ledger.
- Ensures compliance with institutional, NCAA, and conference regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Strong skills in budgets and execution of procurement.
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong skills in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook or similar.
- Ability to effectively provide leadership and direction.
- Ability to effectively and creatively manage complex issues, supervise staff, develop, analyze and monitor complicated budgets.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively perform with limited direction.
- Ability to interact with individuals at all levels in the department, the university and the university community.
- Enthusiastic self-starter that consistently exercises sound judgment.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
- Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.

| Required Education |
Bachelor’s Degree.
|
| Required Work Experience |
- Six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in accounting and/or business operations in a complex environment.
- Three (3) years of leadership or supervisory experience in an office or other relevant environment.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree or other advanced degree with a business-related concentration (accounting, finance, economics, etc.); Can be working toward degree.
- Previous experience with intercollegiate athletics.

| Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations |
Must have a valid driver license, driving record that is insurable by UIW insurance carrier, and be at least 21 years of age, as required to drive for UIW.

Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm with extended hours as needed, especially during peak periods, to meet departmental goals.
