The Director of Athletics Communications reports to the Assistant Athletic Director for Athletics Communication and is responsible for performing a variety of communication assignments related to media relations, game coverage, website maintenance, and social media platforms. The Director of Athletics Communications will also be responsible for the compilation of historical information and records for Rensselaer’s 23 varsity athletic programs, while also serving as a liaison with Rensselaer’s staff, student-athletes, and internal and external constituents, as well as the NCAA, Liberty League, and ECAC Hockey.
Bachelor’s degree required in communications or related field
Five (5) years of experience in an athletic communications/sports information office
Experience in NCAA recognized statistical software
Experience in developing media guides, sports programs, schedule cards, and event flyers using InDesign and Photoshop
Relevant combinations of education, training and experience may be considered.
Knowledge of NCAA, Liberty League and ECAC Hockey rules, policies and procedures
Knowledge of statistical and publishing software
Ability to make website content updates in Content Management Systems such as Drupal and Wordpress
Familiarity with creating digital assets using Adobe Creative Suite
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Strong commitment to quality and excellent customer service
Demonstrated planning, organizing and effective time management skills
Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet established goals and objectives
Ability to work flexible schedule including nights and weekends
Non Standard Shift: This position is responsible for game coverage, and as a result some weekend and evening work is required.
Expected hiring range:
$60,000 - $65,670

The selected candidate’s salary will be determined based on factors that include the available budget, internal equity, and the final candidate’s qualifications, experience, education and other job-related credentials. This hiring range is provided as Rensselaer’s good faith estimate of the expected hiring range at the time of posting.
