Position Summary Information
James Madison University, a Division I member of the NCAA and Sun Belt Conference, is seeking a Director of Athletics Creative Design. This position is full-time with a comprehensive benefits package.
Duties and Responsibilities Duties include but are not limited to:Lead the design initiatives for the entirety of the JMU Athletics Department. Specific responsibilities will include the creation and design of digital assets to be used daily on all 60+ Athletics social media accounts, all email marketing, general use for JMUSports.com and video board graphic content for five facilities including all promotional outside marquee display boards.Print collateral design such as sales brochures, posters, game programs and other promotional items including all fan giveaway items will be expected. Facility design projects for all Athletics venues will also be required.The successful candidate will collaborate with the Creative Services team to provide a consistent brand and promotional messaging across all projects. Will ensure that all JMU Athletics content adheres to the brand standards set forth by the JMU Athletics Brand Identity Guide.Will supervise the Creative Services Assistant part-time employee and will have oversite of growth and implementation of student program that will require consistent recruitment and training of volunteers, practicums and interns. Understanding the need to prioritize and delegate projects and tasks within the design branch of the Creative Services Department.
Required Qualifications: Graphic design experience Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects effectively, oversight of the JMU brand design identity. Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (i.e. Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects) as well as demonstrated design skills. Grasp and understanding of digital vs. print projects on large and small design scales. Candidates must possess excellent communication skills; strong organizational skills; strong interpersonal skills; possess the ability to work independently and as a team player; demonstrate creativity; and the ability to work non-traditional hours. Additional Considerations: Specific experience in graphic design for collegiate athletics and/or professional athletics Experience in digital (including motion graphics) and print design Experience in supervision of staff or students in a design setting Knowledge in graphic design, art, marketing, advertising or a related field
