Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. The University reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree (preferably in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or other related field); master’s degree preferred. 5-7 years of experience in security management required, preferably in a sports or event management environment. Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education.
Strong leadership and managerial skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions in high-pressure situations.
Knowledge of security technologies and systems.
Ability to travel extensively and work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.
Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or similar certification is a plus.
First Aid, CPR/AED certification.
Knowledge of NCAA and Big Ten Conference rules and regulations.
Experience working in higher education and/or a sports related field ideal.
Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
Capability to respond quickly to emergency situations.
Valid driver's license required. Position will participate in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Pull Notice System. A copy of DMV record will be required as a final condition of employment. For more information, please visit the policy website.

Salary Range
The annual base salary for this position is $77,500. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer alignment, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.

Minimum Skills: Three years of intercollegiate athletic experience at the Division I level. Knowledge of, and compliance with, NCAA, conference and university rules and regulations. Knowledge of event scheduling methods, facility use agreements and event planning process. Ability to make quick, rational decisions. Ability to work with and exhibit sensitivity to and understanding of the heterogeneous racial, ethnic, disabled, sexual orientation and cultural populations of community college students. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, demonstrating advanced writing skills. Demonstrable ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Strong knowledge of standard safety practices using equipment and other requirements of workplace safety.
Preferred Education: Master's degree
Preferred Experience: 5 years
