| Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
The Department of Athletics exists to provide educational and athletic opportunities to young men and women, to provide an environment for student-athletes to learn, advance and excel both academically and athletically, and to serve the interests of the University by complimenting and enhancing its diversity and quality of life. Through its athletic programs, the University seeks to unite alumni, faculty, administration and students in a common shared experience. The governing unit within the Department of Athletics is the Director’s Office, which is the administrative office and clearinghouse for the entire Department of Athletics, and promotes the department’s guiding principle of educating and inspiring through athletics. This unit provides support to administrators, coaches, staff members and student-athletes in order to provide and promote a premier intercollegiate athletic program for The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Department of Athletics is a highly visible public relations arm of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with statewide, national and international recognition.

| Position Summary |
Reporting to the Head Coach of the Women’s Basketball (WBB) program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the Director of Business Operations for Women’s Basketball is responsible for strategic and effective management of a high-profile Division 1 basketball program. At the direction of the head coach provide leadership of all organizational components the program that include business operations and program oversight that includes but is not limited to equipment, apparel, information technology resources, team travel, supervision and oversight for WBB team managers. Serves as first point of contact for human resources staffing needs, and primary contact to the Athletics Business Office. Position works directly with the coaching staff and sport administrators to maximize resources to ensure athletic success and student development; works independently and collaboratively on the daily operations for the team, as well as on projects, events, and initiatives. Assists in resource maximization and efficiency among program operations, helping to ensure student athlete success, and developing relationships internally and externally with athletic staff, donors, families, etc. Know and abide by all departmental, UNC, NCAA and NABC rules, regulations, and guidelines. Position goal is to contribute to the creation and maintenance of an environment that will promote integrity and leadership, in which future, present and past Carolina Women’s Basketball student-athletics can be successful on an off the court.

| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree required (or foreign degree equivalent) with at least 1 year of experience in relevant independent instructional or educational activities; specific minimum experience is at the discretion of the Director of Athletics.

| Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
2-5 years of experience in an intercollegiate environment. Knowledge of and familiarity NCAA rules and regulations. Good organizational, interpersonal communications and computer skills necessary. Strong computer skills and interpersonal communications skills essential. Valid NC driver’s license required.

| Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred. Experience in an intercollegiate environment preferably at a Division I level.

| Special Physical/Mental Requirements |
Ability to lift/move 25 lbs or greater. May be required to navigate stairs. Must be able to manage a high-volume, fast-paced environment. Attention to detail essential. Ability to work evenings, nights and weekends as necessary. Travel required.
