Job Description:
The Director of Compliance oversees all compliance-related matters within the athletics department, ensuring adherence to NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations. They serve as the primary point of contact for compliance inquiries, violation investigations, and educational initiatives, fostering a culture of integrity and ethical conduct among student-athletes, coaches, and staff.
Develop, implement, and enforce departmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with NCAA, conference, and institutional regulations.
Monitor recruiting activities (bylaw 13), eligibility requirements (bylaw 14), financial aid distribution (bylaw 15), & playing and practice seasons (bylaw 17) to ensure compliance with applicable rules.
Conduct regular audits and reviews to assess adherence to NCAA rules and regulations, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed.
Provide education and training to student-athletes, coaches, and staff on compliance-related matters, including NCAA rules, academic eligibility, and ethical conduct.
Serve as the liaison between the athletics department and the NCAA, conference offices, and other institutional offices, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of compliance-related information.
Investigate and respond to compliance violations, coordinating with appropriate stakeholders to address issues and mitigate risks.
Stay informed about changes to NCAA rules and regulations, advising athletics department leadership on potential implications and strategies to maintain compliance.
Collaborate with other departments, such as academic services and student affairs, to support the overall well-being and success of student-athletes.
Represent the athletics department on compliance-related and other committees or working groups, advocating for the department's interests and contributing to policy development and decision-making.
The position will supervise the Assistant Director of Compliance and manage any compliance interns the department may acquire
Perform other duties as assigned by athletics department leadership.
Job Requirements: Education, Experience and Skills:
Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in an athletics administrative role, preferably at the NCAA Division I level.
Thorough understanding of NCAA rules and regulations governing collegiate athletics.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and apply complex regulations to real-world situations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively educate and influence diverse stakeholders.
Demonstrated leadership abilities, with a commitment to fostering a culture of compliance and ethical conduct.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Knowledge of compliance software and systems preferred.
