| Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
The Department of Athletics exists to provide educational and athletic opportunities to young men and women, to provide an environment for student-athletes to learn, advance and excel both academically and athletically, and to serve the interests of the University by complimenting and enhancing its diversity and quality of life. Through its athletic programs, the University seeks to unite alumni, faculty, administration and students in a common shared experience. The governing unit within the Department of Athletics is the Director’s Office, which is the administrative office and clearinghouse for the entire Department of Athletics, and promotes the department’s guiding principle of educating and inspiring through athletics. This unit provides support to administrators, coaches, staff members and student-athletes in order to provide and promote a premier intercollegiate athletic program for The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Department of Athletics is a highly visible public relations arm of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with statewide, national and international recognition.

| Position Summary |
The Director of Creative Content – Women’s Basketball will create content and graphics for social media, web, promotions, facility, recruiting and other uses for the Carolina Women’s Basketball program and Department of Athletics that are dynamic and consistent with the Athletic Department’s Branding Guidelines. Work with the Women’s Basketball Creative team, including the Director of Women’s Basketball Recruiting, Director of Women’s Basketball Media Relations and Director of Operations, to determine graphics and social media needs for the program. Assist with related photo and video shoots; coordinate with the Creative Team (including team videographer and media relations director) to plan content calendars and deliver content on deadline. Communicate effectively and consistently with the Women’s Basketball Creative Team about content and social media posts. This position is responsible for the creation and distribution of graphics, animations and other digital projects within the women’s basketball program. The purpose of this content is to inform, engage and excite prospective student-athletes, as well as fans, alumni, donors and the Carolina Community by strategically telling great stories and promoting the Women’s Basketball program. This position will work closely with various internal and external constituencies including, but not limited to, Athletic Communications, Marketing and Promotions, sponsorship partners, Go Heels Productions and The Rams Club.

| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
High school diploma or equivalency and two years of visual/graphic arts experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

| Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
An inventive, imaginative, original content creator who can distill stories and bring them to life through content creation, social media and graphics.
Experience with visual design skills (e.g. typography, color, layout, traditional offset and digital printingtechnologies, etc.) and use of Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Lightroom, After Effects, and related programs.
Experience with social media strategy, posting and writing.
Experience with GIF and motion graphics production (After Effects and other Creative Suite programs).
Photography skills.
Adobe Dreamweaver, Spark, Premiere Pro, Animate CC, Fuse, etc.
Experience working in a high-energy, fast-paced environment.
Must be able to produce while working around tight deadlines.
Must be able to work with a team of content creators.
Comfortable working long hours, including nights and weekends.

| Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Experience in content creation and social media in professional sports or at the Division One level. This experience would include varying design and graphics work – for social media, calendars and other promotional items, etc.
Strong story development skills. Excellent storytelling judgment. Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities and work under time pressure deadlines. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Ability to clearly communicate plans and solutions.

Must be able to lift/move 25 lbs or greater. May be required to navigate stairs. Must be able to manage a fast-paced, high volume work environment. Attention to detail essential. Evening, night and weekend work as required. Travel required.
