The Univerity of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Director of Development - Athletics. The Development Director is responsible to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward donors for charitable financial support for intercollegiate athletics at North Georgia through gifts (major, capital and planned), grants and sponsorships. The Athletic Development Director will work primarily to promote North Georgia Athletics to all appropriate audiences for the purpose of attracting direct financial support for the programs. He/she will work as part of the Institutional Advancement team to promote the goals of the university, and in partnership with the Athletics Department to influence programs and projects to maximize private financial support. This work will be primarily conducted away from the office; extensive travel is required. Timely submission of reports is a critical component of this job, and will be evaluated on a periodic basis, as will quality of work and program outcomes. The athletic development officer is required to maintain a current driver's license and be able to drive themselves in the course of their travels. The athletics development director is also required to maintain an active smartphone/PDA with an appropriate service account, and to make that phone number publicly available.

Must be flexible with work schedule and available to work weekends and evenings when necessary.

Responsibilities

Travel as necessary to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward donors and prospective donors (individuals, corporations, foundations) for gift and grants as appropriate to support intercollegiate athletics and North Georgia College & State University. Identify donors for referral to other solicitors (President, Vice President, Athletic Director, Coach, etc.) and steward those relationships. Operate in partnership with Athletics and Advancement staff to plan and execute events, record and manage information, and manage assignments in pursuit of identified goals.
Working in close cooperation with the University's Director of Development and the Director of Athletics, the Development Director will maintain active, ongoing relationships with each team/program within the Department of Athletics to ensure maximum maximum effectiveness of fundraising efforts, to keep the Development team aware of resources, needs, projects and funding opportunities within the school.
Plan and organize work and travel schedules, according to established priorities and fundraising goals, and within established budget guidelines. This may include donor research, development of action plans, etc.
Prepare and submit timely and accurate reports of expenditures, contact information, and program outcomes.
Actively participate in scheduled Development team meetings for professional development, reporting and planning.
Actively participate as an ex-officio member of the Nighthawks Athletic Club Board offering support where appropriate.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree is required.
Three years of professional fundraising non-profit, education or Corporate experience.
Current driver's license.
Proficiency in communications, marketing, donor relations/stewardship.
Demonstrated ability to manage, recruit, train, and support volunteers.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's preferred
Thorough knowledge of database management; statistical analysis and Raiser¿s Edge® experience preferred.
Working knowledge of planned giving basics strongly preferred.
