Job Description

Trinity College, an NCAA Division III institution located in Hartford, Connecticut, is seeking an individual to serve as its inaugural Director of Women's and Men's Fencing. The Director of Fencing will be responsible for recruiting, building, and leading our newly created Women’s Fencing and Men’s Fencing programs. The Women’s Fencing team will begin competition in 2027-28, with the Men’s Fencing team starting competition the following year in 2028-29. The Director will provide overall leadership and administration of both teams, including setting strategic direction for all aspects of the program, recruitment and development of student-athletes, competitive success, budget management, fundraising, alumni engagement, staff supervision, and compliance with NCAA Division III, NESCAC, and Trinity College rules and regulations. The Director is committed to fostering a culture of excellence that supports the academic, athletic, and holistic development of Trinity College student-athletes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for all aspects of the men’s and women’s fencing programs.
  • Develop and execute a strategic recruiting plan to identify, evaluate, and attract academically and athletically qualified prospective student-athletes,
  • Designs, prepares, and runs comprehensive training sessions and competition strategies focused on the development of student-athletes competitive success.
  • Hire, supervise, mentor, and evaluate assistant coaching staff, fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Manage the program’s overall operating budget ensuring responsible stewardship of college resources and adherence to financial policies and procedures.
