| Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
The Department of Athletics exists to provide educational and athletic opportunities to young men and women, to provide an environment for student-athletes to learn, advance and excel both academically and athletically, and to serve the interests of the University by complimenting and enhancing its diversity and quality of life. Through its athletic programs, the University seeks to unite alumni, faculty, administration and students in a common shared experience. The governing unit within the Department of Athletics is the Director’s Office, which is the administrative office and clearinghouse for the entire Department of Athletics, and promotes the department’s guiding principle of educating and inspiring through athletics. This unit provides support to administrators, coaches, staff members and student-athletes in order to provide and promote a premier intercollegiate athletic program for The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Department of Athletics is a highly visible public relations arm of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with statewide, national and international recognition.

| Position Summary |
Reporting to the Football General Manager, The Director of Football Recruiting leads all aspects of planning and implementing the vision of the player acquisition process as well as managing the daily operation of the recruiting department (player acquisition). Duties include but are not limited to determining objectives, developing strategies and procedures, managing human, financial, and physical resources, and functioning with a high degree of autonomy. Oversees the planning and coordination of the recruiting experience for recruits on-site for official visits, unofficial visits, gameday and all recruiting events.

| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree required (or foreign degree equivalent) with at least 1 year of experience in relevant independent instructional or educational activities; specific minimum experience is at the discretion of the Director of Athletics.

| Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Substantial experience working in a NCAA Division 1 collegiate football recruiting office. Experience working with NCAA Compliance Offices and NCAA Rules as related to the recruitment of potential student-athletes. Ability to work independently; demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to analyze recruitment data, identify trends and best practices, and make data-driven decisions. Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with Coaches for planning and implementation of Official/Unofficial Visits. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (or similar software), working with databases. Experience running business or athletic program social media account(s). Valid NC Driver’s License. Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.

| Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Post-secondary education and 2 years of professional experience, preferably in a Division 1 football office. Effective communication and public relations skills.
