The Director of Intercollegiate Athletics is responsible for the overall management of the University's intercollegiate athletics programs, serves as a member of the University Cabinet, and reports directly to the University President. Specific duties include supervision of sports programs, strategic planning, fundraising, and compliance with all University and NAIA policies. Additionally, the Director is responsible for leading the Athletics Department while supporting and reinforcing a positive environment in which student-athletes learn, grow, practice, and compete. The Director is expected to cultivate an atmosphere that strives for excellence in athletics as part of a larger commitment to academic success while fostering a sense of belonging emphasizing equity, diversity, and a supportive environment for all student-athletes and athletics staff.

The responsibilities of the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics shall include, but not necessarily limited to, the following:
Provide administrative direction, supervision, and oversight for:
Responsible for Athletic Training program, staff, and Champions of Character Coordinator.
Ensure compliance with all federal, divisional, and university athletics regulations.
Administer departmental funds and accounts in a fiscally responsible manner.
Collaborate with student administrative offices and Admissions/Enrollment Management to recruit and retain student-athletes.
Collaborate with Student Life to support and enhance campus life, school spirit, and game day activities inclusive of Cheer, Dance and Spirit Team engagement.
Establish and maintain standards of dress, scholarship, safety, and conduct for team travel, training, and practice.
Monitor strict observances of equality of opportunity in men’s and women’s athletics by keeping informed of legal requirements and consulting with university staff regarding compliance with the law; and to initiate and coordinate the certification of academic and health eligibility for all varsity athletes.
Collaborate with University relations in the preparation of press releases and the arrangement of media coverage for athletic events; supervise the Sports Information Director and Athletics Communications staff; and ensure that the appropriate media are informed of the results of all athletic events.
Develop and manage departmental, team, and special events budgets; order equipment; and ensure departmental compliance with all University cash handling and management policies.
Collect and analyze departmental statistics, data; prepare and distribute reports as appropriate; maintain current records regarding student-athlete retention data.
Support and assist in campus initiatives and other related University activities; represent the University at professional meetings and other special or public events; function as a member of the University Community by accepting special and committee assignments as may be requested by the University President.
Supervise the control, issuance, and maintenance of recreational athletic equipment and facilities.
Sustain a culture of integrity, honesty, sportsmanship, professionalism, commitment, and respect at all levels in support of the mission of the university.
Ø Candidates are required to have already earned a master’s degree from an accredited four-year college/university.
Ø Preference will be given to candidates with at least seven years of progressive executive level experience in an interscholastic or intercollegiate athletics program, or a closely related entity.
Ø Demonstrated abilities in the following:
o leading a complex organization; fundraising and revenue development; budget administration; and employee management
Ø Vast knowledge about past and current NAIA rules and policy; commitment to NAIA rules and standards; preferred knowledge of Champions of Character program, commitment to its principles and goals; and the ability to adapt to the ever-changing nature of the intercollegiate sports landscape.
Ø Outstanding written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills; and the highest levels of integrity, honesty, professionalism, character, and a commitment to excellence.
This is an exempt position requiring 40+ hours per week, 12-month position with evening or weekend work as needed.
