Position Summary

Working closely with the Associate AD for External Operations, the Director of Marketing and Creative Services will provide leadership and strategic direction for the marketing and fan engagement unit within Athletics. This position will be responsible for developing marketing plans for revenue generation sports, leading game entertainment at home Viking Athletics events, lead all on-campus and student marketing initiatives, as well as the coordination of community engagement, outreach activities, and advertising that promotes Viking Athletics. This position will also oversee the mascot program, spirit squads, and robust student street team.
A Bachelor’s degree in marketing, sports management or related field. At least two (2) years of experience working in college athletics or a professional sports setting. Experience with developing marketing plans and executing promotions. Demonstrated excellence with verbal, written, and communication skills. A track record in building quality relationships.
Master’s Degree in marketing, communications, sports management or a related field. Experience coordinating on‐campus and student marketing/engagement initiatives. Experience coordinating in‐game promotions and entertainment for athletic events. Experience organizing community engagement and outreach activities. Experience coordinating on‐campus and student marketing/engagement initiatives. Experience with Adobe Suite.

Salary is dependent on several factors, and new employees will typically start around the Q1 level to allow for later growth within the salary band. PSU has a structured process for determining starting compensation, taking into account years of related experience, applicable skills, knowledge and abilities, market parity, and internal equity.
