The role of the Director is to enhance the student-athlete’s mental and emotional well-being and sport performance. Services include:
Counseling and consultation with individual student athletes.
Implementing a range of performance and mental skills training for student-athletes and coaches in individual and team settings.
Conducting ongoing needs assessments and program evaluations.
Acting as liaison to William and Mary Counseling Center and maintain a collaborative relationship with Counseling Center staff.
Position reports to the Chief Medical Officer, Sports Medicine.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule in order to meet athlete, team and coach scheduling time accommodations.
Some evening, weekend and holiday work hours required.

Faculty or Staff: 12 month
Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Counseling or Clinical Psychology from an
APA
accredited program or a related field.
Licensed or license-eligible in the State of VA as a Psychologist or the ability to obtain a license within 3 months.
2 years of experience in providing sport psychology/mental performance services.
Certified Mental Performance Consultant (
CMPC
) Credential.
Ability to communicate and interact effectively, respectfully, and appropriately with diverse populations in the Department, the University, and the community.
Ability to manage dual relationships while maintaining confidentiality, best practices, and effective communication among athletic department stakeholders.
Experience with and ability to manage crises situations and communicate timely and effectively with all necessary parties.
Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills with colleagues, student-athletes, coaches, administrators, faculty, staff, and parents.
Ability to maintain paper and electronic records efficiently and effectively.
Commitment to diversity and demonstrated competency in multicultural counseling skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, coaches, and administrative staff as a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team.
Ability to work some evenings and weekends.
Experience working with student- athlete populations in a Division I Athletic Department.

Remote work eligibility is not guaranteed and is subject to approval. All hiring rates are commensurate with relevant experience up to the advertised amount considering internal alignment.
