| Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
The Department of Athletics exists to provide educational and athletic opportunities to young men and women, to provide an environment for student-athletes to learn, advance and excel both academically and athletically, and to serve the interests of the University by complimenting and enhancing its diversity and quality of life. Through its athletic programs, the University seeks to unite alumni, faculty, administration and students in a common shared experience. The governing unit within the Department of Athletics is the Director’s Office, which is the administrative office and clearinghouse for the entire Department of Athletics, and promotes the department’s guiding principle of educating and inspiring through athletics. This unit provides support to administrators, coaches, staff members and student-athletes in order to provide and promote a premier intercollegiate athletic program for The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Department of Athletics is a highly visible public relations arm of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with statewide, national and international recognition.

| Position Summary |
The Director of Operations responsibilities will include but not limited to conducting overall administrative tasks within the operation of the Men’s and Women’s Tennis programs. Assists the head coach in all aspects of managing and administering a Division I Tennis program within University, ACC and NCAA rules. Position works directly with the coaching staff and sport administrators to maximize resources to ensure athletic success and student development, working independently and collaboratively on the daily operations of the team, as well as on projects, events, and initiatives. Assist in maximizing resources and efficiency among program operations including management of team travel, working to ensure student-athlete success, both competitively and academically, and developing deeper relationships internally and externally with athletic staff, donors, families, etc. The goal of this position will be to assist in the creation and maintenance of an environment that will promote integrity and leadership, one in which future, present, and past Carolina Tennis student-athletes can achieve excellence on and off the court.

| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

| Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Knowledge of and familiarity NCAA rules and regulations. Good organizational, interpersonal communications and computer skills necessary.

| Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Knowledge of and experience with NCAA rules and regulations as they apply to this sport. Experience working in an athletics environment helpful.Demonstrated abilities to ensure the smooth operation of the Tennis program and those related events. Ability to travel & work on weekends when required.

| Special Physical/Mental Requirements |
Must be able to lift/move 25 lbs. or greater with or without reasonable accommodations. Attention to detail essential. Must be able to manage a high volume, fast paced environment. May be exposed to extreme weather conditions. Travel required.
