The Director of Operations, Athletics is responsible for the various athletic facilities utilized by ArtU sport programs for practice and game competition, local transportation for teams and events, game day operations and logistics for athletic home events and ArtU Athletics sponsored events.

The Director of Operations, Athletics, also supports the program with the following responsibilities:

Manage day-to-day internal operations and related logistics for athletic facilities, transportation, game day operations, practice arrangements, visiting team guides, game contracts, student-athlete housing, fundraising events, and assist with equipment inventory.

Coordinate , develop and supervise all game-day operations and logistics for athletic home events and ArtU Athletics sponsored events.

• Oversee all game-day operations/pre- and post-game logistics, including the administration and management of game contracts.
• Maintain accurate semester team practice and game competition schedules by sport working in close communication and coordination with other members of the athletic department (compliance, academics, athletic trainers, communications).
• Hire, supervise and provide orientation to part-time workers, fifth year and work study students for department and game operations.
• Manage ticket and concession sales at home game competition sites utilizing cash-handling best practices; record and provide a sales report and cash deposit after the event to the Associate Athletic Director for Business Operations and External Relations.

Oversee all day-to-day logistics for athletic facilities utilized by ArtU sport teams for team practice and game competition, and ArtU Athletic sponsored events.

• Serve as primary department staff liaison to outside entities for athletic facility rentals, facility contracts, scheduling and final payments.
• Plan and manage athletic facility expense budget and actual expenses for each facility site by communicating and collaborating with the Associate Athletic Director for Business Operations and External Relations and the Director of Athletics.

Serve as the department’s Equipment Manager overseeing the effective management of the department’s equipment inventory system and conduct periodic (no less than semiannual) audits of the department’s uniforms, apparel and sport equipment.

• Assist the Associate Athletics Director for Business Operations and head coaches to plan the purchase, replacement and control their respective sport inventory of team uniforms, team apparel, footwear and sport equipment.
• Ensure the proper ordering, maintenance and repair of all athletic equipment.
• Work closely with the Associate Athletic Director for Business Operations and External Relations to plan and manage a planned sale, disposal or department donation of old and unusable uniforms, footwear and other team apparel; properly record the inventory reduction in the department’s equipment inventory system.

Oversee all aspects of securing university or outside transportation for practices and game competition.

• Work closely with all head coaches on their transportation requests via the online “Field Trip Requests” to schedule university or outside transportation (Avis/Enterprise) or locate and secure alternative transportation in case of emergency. Communicate and work closely with the Assistant Athletic Director for Business Operations on the transportation schedule using university or outside transportation.
• Operate Academy and/or rental vehicles in the course of completing the above-referenced job duties and observe all applicable federal and state motor vehicle laws.

Other duties:

• Serve as Housing liaison between coaches and Housing Department for incoming freshmen and transfer student-athletes.
• Serve as Coordinator with Work Study, part-time employees and when applicable of the Fifth-Year Athletic Aid Program supervising the Fifth-Year Aid student-athletes during the year, training and scheduling the student-athletes to assist with event management, game and video operations, and assisting with media relations and office operations.

Qualifications:

• Possess First Aid, CPR and AED certification.

• Maintain valid California driver’s license and insurability under the Academy’s carrier.

• Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree in business, organization management or sport administration preferred)

• Experience working in collegiate or professional sports (event management, facility operations preferred)

• Good organizational, time management, communication and writing skills

Compensation: $69,000/annually
