Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Assistant Athletic Director of Football Operations and in collaboration with the Director of Player Personnel, the Director of Recruiting Operations will coordinate all aspects of recruiting potential student-athletes.  The Director of Recruiting Operations will stay abreast of industry standards and best practices. The incumbent is also responsible for supporting the philosophy, goals, and mission of the Fresno State Athletics Department, as well as adherence to the NCAA policies and procedures.

Key Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of office procedures, methods, and practices.
• Knowledge of office machines and computer software, including Microsoft Office, electronic mail, electronic business forms and the internet.
• Thorough knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
• Demonstrated competence in understanding, interpreting, and communicating procedures, policies, information, ideas, and instructions.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Strong verbal communication and persuasion skills with the ability to compose professional correspondence (emails, social media posts, etc.) to attract student-athletes.

• Ability to:

  • Work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Work independently under general instruction and limited supervision on a variety of routine and complex assignments.
  • Work effectively with individuals of various ethnic, racial, and socio-economic groups.

• Ability and willingness to support the equity and diversity commitments of the department.

• A history of regular attendance and positive performance evaluations.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution.
• Experience working in a football office at the collegiate or Division I Collegiate level or in the NFL.

• Must be immediately eligible to obtain a State of California driver’s license and must be able to comply with all university requirements pertaining to driving on university business.   A background check of the candidate’s driving record will be required.

  • Specialized Skills:
  • Specialize in using HUDL and XOS.
  • Preferred Skills:
  • Experience working in a Division I athletic department.
  • Knowledge of athletics and the Mountain West Conference.

Supplemental Information

Following a conditional offer of employment, a background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate may start work with California State University, Fresno. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may result in the withdrawal of the offer of employment. The person holding this position is considered a "mandated reporter" under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.

This position may be a "designated position" under the California State University's Conflict of Interest Code. This will require the filing of a Statement of Economic Interest on an annual basis and the completion of training within six (6) months of assuming office and every two (2) years thereafter.
