Summary of Job Duties: The Director of Scouting serves as the primary leader for the identification, evaluation, and organization of prospective student-athletes for the football program. This position oversees prospect discovery across high school, junior college, and the NCAA Transfer Portal; manages recruiting databases and boards; and collaborates closely with the General Manager, coaching staff, and recruiting operations personnel to ensure a comprehensive, consistent, and compliant recruiting process. The role requires strong relationship-building skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
Demonstrated experience in NCAA Division I football scouting, recruiting boards, and personnel evaluation
Knowledge of NCAA recruiting rules and procedures
At least two years experience using recruiting databases and video evaluation platforms to support roster construction
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in Quality Control football position and/or Director level of Player Personnel
Experience evaluating high school, junior college, and transfer portal prospects
Established relationships with high school and junior college coaches, and trainers
Experience working within a General Manager or personnel department structure within a collegiate football program
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Working knowledge of NCAA compliance, admissions, and academic eligibility processes
Knowledge of football personnel evaluation principles and position-specific criteria
Strong organizational and database management skills
Attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to evaluate film and apply standardized grading systems
Ability to collaborate effectively with coaches, staff, and external stakeholders
Ability to travel, work nights/weekends, and maintain flexible hours during recruiting periods
