Director of Spirit Programs

Missouri Valley College seeks a dynamic, creative, and highly organized leader to serve as Director of Spirit Programs. This position provides strategic leadership and oversight for all spirit-related programs, including Cheerleading, STUNT, Color Guard, and Dance. The Director is responsible for fostering a culture of excellence, enhancing campus spirit, supporting athletic programs, and representing the College with professionalism and integrity.

This role requires a balance of artistic direction, athletic coaching, recruitment strategy, budget management, and external engagement to elevate the visibility and success of Missouri Valley College’s spirit programs.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive oversight of Cheerleading, STUNT, Color Guard, and Dance programs.
• Develop and implement a unified vision, standards, and long-term strategic plan for all spirit programs.
• Ensure alignment with Missouri Valley College’s mission, athletics, and enrollment goals.
• Supervise coaching staff, choreographers, and support personnel.
• Maintain compliance with institutional, conference, and governing body regulations.

• Lead and execute a strategic recruitment plan to meet roster and enrollment targets.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive oversight of Cheerleading, STUNT, Color Guard, and Dance programs.
• Develop and implement a unified vision, standards, and long-term strategic plan for all spirit programs.
• Ensure alignment with Missouri Valley College’s mission, athletics, and enrollment goals.
• Supervise coaching staff, choreographers, and support personnel.
• Maintain compliance with institutional, conference, and governing body regulations.

Recruitment & Retention

• Lead and execute a strategic recruitment plan to meet roster and enrollment targets.
• Identify and cultivate relationships with high school and club programs regionally and nationally.
• Organize and host recruitment events, clinics, and tryouts.
• Collaborate with admissions to support enrollment growth through spirit program participation.
• Foster a positive student-athlete experience to support retention and academic success.

Choreography & Performance Excellence

• Oversee or directly contribute to choreography for performances, competitions, and game-day routines.
• Ensure innovative, high-quality, and audience-engaging performances across all teams.
• Coordinate training schedules, camps, and performance preparation.
• Maintain a safe training environment and promote proper technique and conditioning.

Brand Ambassadorship & Community Engagement

• Serve as a visible ambassador for Missouri Valley College at campus, community, and athletic events.
• Promote school spirit, pride, and engagement through performances and appearances.
• Build partnerships with alumni, donors, and local organizations.
• Support marketing and social media initiatives to elevate program visibility and recruitment.

Fundraising & Resource Development

• Develop and execute fundraising strategies to support program needs, travel, uniforms, and competitions.
• Coordinate camps, clinics, and community events as revenue-generating opportunities.
• Cultivate donor relationships and sponsorship opportunities.
• Work collaboratively with advancement and athletics leadership on fundraising initiatives.

Budget & Program Management

• Develop, manage, and oversee annual budgets for all spirit programs.
• Monitor expenditures and ensure fiscal responsibility.
• Coordinate travel logistics, scheduling, uniforms, and equipment procurement.
• Maintain accurate records and reporting related to program operations.

Event & Game Day Coordination

• Coordinate spirit program participation at athletic events and institutional functions.
• Ensure organized, energetic, and professional game-day execution.
• Collaborate with athletics staff for scheduling and event planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in cheerleading, dance, STUNT, or color guard at the collegiate or professional level.
• Proven success in recruitment, program development, and team leadership.
• Strong choreography and performance design experience preferred.
• Experience with budget management and fundraising initiatives.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required.
