This individual must be able to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously while building strong collaborative relationships across campus, particularly with the College’s Communications and Marketing department, Academy Athletics and external partners.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Sports Information & Statistics
Compile, maintain, and report accurate statistics for all athletic programs in accordance with NCAA and conference standards.
Ensure timely submission of statistics, box scores, and reports to appropriate governing bodies, including the USA South Conference, NCAA
Serve as the official scorer or oversee statistical crews during home contests.
Maintain historical records, archives, and program data.
Operate Live stats for all home games.
Game Day Management & Operations
Oversee all sports information aspects of home contests, including statistics, scorekeeping, and media coordination.
Manage game day communications operations, including live stats, live streaming, and in-game updates.
Coordinate game day staff, including statisticians, public address personnel, and media representatives.
Ensure a professional and efficient game day environment aligned with institutional and conference standards.
Website Management & Digital Presence
Serve as the primary administrator for the athletics website.
Ensure timely and accurate updates including schedules, rosters, bios, statistics, and news.
Maintain a user-friendly, engaging, and visually consistent web presence.
Implement strategies to enhance web traffic and user engagement.
Content Creation & Storytelling
Write and publish game previews, recaps, feature stories, and weekly updates.
Produce timely post-game stories and highlights that reflect program success and student-athlete achievements.
Develop compelling narratives that elevate the visibility of Salem College Athletics.
Social Media Management
Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy across all platforms.
Create and schedule engaging content, including graphics, videos, and real-time updates.
Monitor analytics and adjust strategies to increase engagement, reach, and brand awareness.
Ensure consistent voice, tone, and branding across all channels.
Graphic Design & Visual Branding
Design digital and print graphics for social media, recruiting, game day, and promotional materials.
Create visual content for campus branding, including signage, banners, and facility graphics.
Maintain consistency with institutional branding guidelines.
Video Production & Streaming
Oversee live streaming of athletic events, ensuring high-quality broadcasts.
Produce video content including highlights, promotional videos, and feature pieces.
Collaborate closely with the Salem Academy Athletic Communications Coordinator to execute video streaming, audio production, and overall game day broadcast operations.
Manage video equipment, software, and student production crews.
Marketing & Promotions
Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote athletic events and increase attendance.
Collaborate with campus partners to enhance fan engagement and game day experience.
Support branding initiatives that elevate the overall profile of Salem College Athletics.
Oversee and manage Media Day for the entire Athletic Department.
Event Management
Assist in planning and execute the annual Athletic Awards Show, including program development, scripting, and promotion.
Support additional departmental events and special initiatives as needed.
Collaborate with institutional Marketing & Communication Department
Staff Supervision & Management
Recruit, train, and supervise student workers supporting sports information, media, and game day operations.
Approve and manage student worker timesheets.
Foster a professional and educational work environment for student staff.
Contract & Vendor Management
Coordinate and manage contract services, including photographers, videographers, sports information staff, and other game day personnel.
Ensure all contracts are fulfilled and services meet institutional standards.
Review, process, and submit invoices for contract services in a timely manner to the Director of Athletics.
Conference & External Relations
Serve as the primary liaison between Salem College Athletics and the USA South Conference.
Work directly with the Associate Commissioner and conference office on reporting, communications, and league initiatives.
Ensure all conference requirements, deadlines, and communication standards are met.
Collaboration & Campus Engagement
Build and maintain strong relationships across campus departments.
Collaborate closely with the Office of Communications and Marketing to ensure alignment with institutional messaging and branding.
Partner with the Salem Academy Athletic Communications Coordinator on shared resources and game day operations.
Serve as a key liaison between Athletics and external media outlets.
Administrative & Strategic Responsibilities
Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Maintain organized workflows and production schedules for all communications efforts.
Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in athletic communications.
Assist with departmental reporting, strategic planning, and special projects.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or related field required
Previous experience in athletic communications, sports information, or a related field.
Knowledge of NCAA rules, statistics systems, and conference reporting requirements.
Proficiency in website management platforms and content management systems.
Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite or similar).
Experience with social media management and analytics tools.
Video production and live streaming experience preferred.
Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.

Physical Functions
While performing the responsibilities of the Director of Sports Information, Communication & Marketing the employee is required to sit for varying lengths of time; bend, reach, lift, push, and pull up to 25 pounds; occasionally stand, walk, and kneel and regularly ascend/descend stairs; use hands and fingers to handle or feel and manipulate keys on a keyboard; perform extended periods of work at a computer workstation, view a computer monitor; perceive sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and receive detailed information through oral communication; express and exchange ideas by means of spoken word; and work in an office setting.
