POSITION DESCRIPTION - Director of Sports Medicine/Head Athletic Trainer

Belhaven University, a Christ-centered university located in Jackson, MS, is receiving applications for the role
of Director of Sports Medicine/Head Athletic Trainer. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to
lead a successful NCAA sports medicine program, grounded in student athlete care and well being. Belhaven
is an NCAA division III institution sponsoring seventeen sports and holding conference membership in the
Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) and affiliate membership for football in the USA South Conference.
Belhaven is also a member of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU).

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Director of
Athletics to carry out responsibilities related to the prevention, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of
athletic injuries; supervise, manage, and mentor staff; implement therapeutic exercise programs and utilize
therapeutic modalities; oversee student-athlete insurance processes and work with local health care
providers; maintain accurate medical records in accordance with HIPPA; supervise and mentor clinical
students; adhere to NATA and state laws of practice related to athletic training; as well as other duties
assigned by supervisor.

POSITION REQUIRMENTS: A minimum of five to seven years of collegiate athletic training experience,
including work in a supervisory role; a graduate of a CAATE program; BOC certified; eligible for State of
Mississippi licensure; CPR/AED certified. Effective verbal and written communication skills; sound
interpersonal ability in working with student athletes, coaches, families, and university personnel; the ability

The Director of Sports Medicine/Head Athletic Trainer is a full-time, salaried position with competitive pay.
Benefit packages are available to include health, dental, vision, 403B retirement, etc. Reimbursement for
professional development (CEU, licensure, dues) is also provided.
