Job Description

Alabama State University, an NCAA D-1 Institution competing in the Southwestern Athletic
Conference seeks qualified applicants for the Head Football Athletic Trainer position. The
selected candidate will be responsible for supporting the Department of Sports Medicine in
practice and game coverage, assisting in the daily operations of the athletic training room, and
providing multifaceted healthcare for the Football program and other assigned sports
programs at Alabama State University. This position reports to the Sr. Associate Chief of Staff/
SWA.

Essential Duties

• Serve as the lead trainer for the department;
• Provide healthcare services for the Football other assigned sports program, including but not limited to - Injury prevention and evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation, practice/event, coverage, physician referral, medical appointments, and assistance with referrals to counseling for student-athletes;
• Maintain communication with the team physician(s) regarding athletic health care and recommended treatment/rehabilitation for all athletic injuries;
• Assist coaching staff in evaluating and implementing sport-specific conditioning programs and methods;
• Assist in selecting and fitting protective equipment, Including special taping, pads, or braces;

• Maintain communication with the team physician(s) regarding athletic health care and recommended treatment/rehabilitation for all athletic injuries;
• Assist coaching staff in evaluating and implementing sport-specific conditioning programs and methods;
• Assist in selecting and fitting protective equipment, Including special taping, pads, or braces;
• Assist with the maintenance of athletic training equipment and monitoring Inventory; and
• Assist with the maintenance and organization of the student-athlete's medical files.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's degree in athletic training, exercise science, or closely related field, four years of postbaccalaureate athletic training experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience;
• NATAB0C Athletic Trainer certification required;
• Eligible for Alabama state licensure;
• Current First Aid and CPR/AE0 Certifications;
• Knowledge of NCAA and SWAC rules and regulations;
• Valid U.S. Driver's License
• 5-6 years of athletic training experience; minimum of 2 years experience working with
  Division I Athletics; and
• Experience working with Mens Basketball and other assigned sports (please note that assigned sports is subject to change).

NCAA STATEMENT:

Athletic staff members are required to provide a written detailed account annually to the president or chancellor for all athletically related income and benefits from sources outside the institution.
