This position supervises and coordinates the University’s overall sports medicine program and athletic training health care services for NCAA Division II athletic teams and collaborates with coaching staff on the formation of team strength and conditioning programs. This position is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations of the athletic training facility and fitness center and also supervises corresponding staff, student-employees and interns. Works in cooperation with and under the medical supervision of the team physician(s). Provides athletic training services to student-athletes which includes but is not limited to: injury prevention, evaluation, assessment, management, and treatment of injuries / illnesses, short-term and long-term rehabilitation of injuries, patient education, and related health care administration.

Essential Functions:

Oversee budgeting for athletic training operational expenses.
Work in collaboration with the Office of Facilities in securing and executing service contracts for preventative maintenance and repairs of fitness center equipment.
Oversee inventory, budget, ordering, receiving and maintenance of athletic training facility supplies.
Share in the responsibilities of athletic training facility and fitness center maintenance and upkeep.
Coordinate and oversee pre-participation physical exams and medical check-ins.
Oversee the formation and maintenance of student-athlete medical records.
Manage insurance claims for student-athletes using the University’s group accident and illness plans.
Serve as insurance claims administrator for excess group intercollegiate sports (ICS) accident insurance plan.
Serve as program administrator for the Student-Athlete Drug Education & Testing Program.
Serve as site coordinator for NCAA Drug Testing Program.
Perform as certified athletic trainer in the prevention, evaluation, assessment, rehabilitation, management, treatment, and treatment of injuries and illnesses.
Provide athletic training health care services for team practices and home contests.
Oversee the certification of all coaches in CPR/AED/First Aid and blood borne pathogen transmission prevention.
Maintain the athletic department’s Emergency Action Plan for all athletic venues.
Make medical referrals and in consultation with supervising team physician, determine the medical clearance of student-athletes.
Document and effectively communicate with coaches all medical restrictions for participation.
Provide emergency care under the policies and procedures of the Office of Athletic Training and the Plan of Care with the supervising team physician(s).
Work with coaches and student-athletes to develop appropriate training regiments.
Maintain a positive working relationship with the Office of Facilities and the administration to ensure the safety of practices and competition fields / courts.
Work in cooperation with equipment room staff regarding the safety of athletic equipment including overseeing the proper fit of protective equipment.
Serve as a Clinical Preceptor for Seton Hall and Rowan University’s Entry-Level Graduate Athletic Training Program.
Maintain proper certifications/licensure as required by the State of New Jersey.
Abide by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Code of Ethics.

Miscellaneous/secondary responsibilities:
Travel with teams and provide athletic training health care services.
Represent Georgian Court University at local, regional, and national meetings as required.
