The Director of Strength and Conditioning will serve as the ultimate authority and university expert in all decisions related to and in accordance with the sports performance, health, and injury resilience of the 17 NCAA Division II athletic sport teams and the 3 non-NCAA athletic teams. The Director will be responsible for ensuring all student-athletes are resilient to injury, enhance their level of sport performance, and are coached and educated on personal health habits to optimize injury resilience and athletic development on a regular and consistent basis. The Director of Strength and Conditioning will work cooperatively with all parties involved in the well-being and support for the student-athletes as it relates to the student-athletes performance, health, and injury resilience. The Director is responsible for planning, organizing, developing, implementing, and evaluating strength and conditioning programs for all SMSU student-athletes. The Director of Strength and Conditioning will manage the strength and conditioning facility and manage the staff which will include: 1 Graduate Assistant, 5-10 work study students, and any other interns/student help as deemed necessary.
Master’s Degree + 1 year of professional experience in strength and conditioning related field OR Bachelor’s Degree + 2 years of professional experience in strength and conditioning related field Certified in CSCS or SCCC Certified in CPR or the ability to obtain certification upon employment
3-5 years of experience working in high school / collegiate athletics Certified in RPR Experience managing and directing a sports performance staff
