Iowa State University is accepting applications for a Director of Strength and Conditioning. The position will report to Administration and will oversee staff and programming for our Olympic sports, except basketball. This position will serve as the primary S&C coach responsible to develop and administer a comprehensive and effective strength and conditioning program for a sport to be determined (likely, Cross Country/Track & Field, Volleyball or Softball). This position will also delegate, oversee and mentor the S&C coaches to provide comprehensive and effective strength and conditioning programs for our other Division I Olympic sports. The ideal candidates will have excellent technical knowledge and proven success with S&C for a variety of Olympic sports at a highly competitive level, strong leadership and analytical skills, exceptional motivational and communication skills, and supervisory ability. Candidates are expected to be committed to multiculturalism and working with a diverse student body. Must be available and flexible to work evenings and/or weekends, extended hours, and to travel with a team as requested.
Candidates are required to have and maintain current certification through a nationally accredited strength and conditioning certification program in accordance withNCAArequirements.
Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree.
Experience coaching strength and conditioning for a professional or collegiate teams.
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) through the CSCCa.
CPR/AEDand First Aid certified.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience strength coaching for aNCAADI or Olympic team in assigned sports.
Supervisory, management and budget experience.
Advanced knowledge of Catapult GPS System.
Experience coaching male and female athletes.
Master’s degree in exercise science, kinesiology or related field.
