Adams State University has an opening for a full-time director of strength and conditioning/Assistant AD for Sport Performance. Responsibilities and duties as assigned by the director of athletics include developing and monitoring performance training programs for athletic teams, implementing safe and effective program design based on scientific principles, instructing proper resistance training exercise techniques, speed and agility development, and testing and evaluation of athletes. ● Provide proper instruction with regards to strength training and conditioning including the olympic lifts.
● Responsible for upholding the highest standards of injury prevention and rehabilitation of student-athletes in collaboration with the athletic training staff.
● Communicate with the athletic training staff and coaches regarding the physical status of the student-athletes to ensure their safety and welfare is appropriately tracked and monitored.
● Developing testing mechanisms in cooperation with respective head coaches for student-athlete skill and conditioning development.
● Maintain up-to-date records on the strength program of each team and specific individual workouts.
● Oversight of the weight room to include upkeep and maintenance, including the use of work-study employment.
● Manage the weight room budget and purchasing of all equipment and materials for weight room maintenance.
● Oversight of Nutrition plan implementation for all sports and all student athletes
● Oversight of all Health and Safety measures for the athletic department
● Work closely with the Athletic training department for sport specific training and rehabilitation programs
● Serve on the Athletics Leadership team including weekly updates and progress reports to the Athletic Director
● Keep team Builder up to date and ensure all athletes are receiving appropriate training and information through the app
● Assist with game day management and crowd control during home athletic events
● Assist the Athletics event manager with oversight and management of the Athletics Equipment Room
● Create schedule for equipment room use and schedule regular maintenance on washers and dryers
● Order all supplies and detergent for washer and dryer and ensure machines are working properly
● Supervise work-study students, manage work-study payments.
● Responsible for upholding and implementing the highest standard of equipment maintenance and sanitation.
● Any additional duties assigned by the director of athletics.
● Responsible for administering and following the policies and procedures of Adams State University and the NCAA in day-to-day operation of the program.
Qualifications
● A bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related field required. Masters degree preferred.
● Certified by an independent accreditation agency required. (e.g., National Strength and Conditioning Association, CSCS) (NCAA Mandatory).
● Maintain current certification through continuing education units.
● Current CPR/AED certification required.
● Minimum 3 years experience in strength and conditioning at the NCAA collegiate level.
● Excellent management and supervisory skills are required.
● Understand and comply with all NCAA, RMAC, and ASU rules.
● Ability to treat others with respect, civility, and courtesy and to work honestly and effectively with employees, students, and the community. This includes the ability to use appropriate conflict management skills to effectively manage any disagreement that might arise or to bring the disagreement to management for assistance in productive resolution when the situation requires.

● Demonstrated knowledge and ability to work effectively with individuals and groups with a variety of identities, cultures, backgrounds, and ideologies in a global environment

Salary and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $51,132 to $58,164 for a 12 month at-will appointment. Adams State University is a state-supported regional comprehensive university in Alamosa, Colorado, United States. Annual precipitation is only 7.25 inches, with summer being the wettest. The aridity depresses snowfall to around 32 inches and the median to only 22.3 inches.
