Responsible for supporting students who represent the University in intercollegiate competition with balancing athletics and academic life successfully. The Director is responsible for developing and managing a comprehensive academic support model, monitors and tracks student-athlete academic performance, assists students in remaining on track toward degree completion, acts as a liaison with the Dept. of Athletics and coaching staffs, implements programs and initiatives to enhance student-athlete academic success, serves as a liaison with faculty, academic advisers, and administrators. Educating
*Direct academic support services for the student-athlete population; Monitor student-athletes academic progress; counsels student-athletes in their academic pursuits, social involvement and serve as a referral source connecting students to critical university resources
*Provide academic coaching and related support for all student-athletes to include those on academic probation; assist students in the petition process for the Committee on the Standing of Students (SOS) and Financial Aid Committee when applicable
*Educate coaches on relevant university policies and practices to support student-athletes
*Utilize Existing academic monitoring systems (Academic Performance Concern Report, , Midterm Grade Reports) to provide early intervention. Educate student-athletes on LU and NCAA academic regulations for competition eligibility and LU academic standing
*Work closely with the Academic Life and Student Transitions and Center for Career and Professional Development to create academic and career development programming for teams, groups and individuals
Administrative/Management
*Research, assess, evaluate academic support programs for student-athletes and design/adjust programs and initiatives accordingly; stay abreast of best practices and national trends for academic support services for student-athletes
*Work closely to coach, counsel and monitor academic progress of first-year student-athletes identified by Admissions or Academic Life and Student Transitions. Work with and respond to concerns of coaching staff; consistently communicate with and gain feedback from coaching staff in evaluating team program effectiveness and logistics to ensure quality experience for all student-athletes
*Serve as the primary liaison between the Dean of Students Office/Academic Support and Athletics Department. Attend department and unit meetings and serve on relevant committees. Work closely with Lehigh University's Athletic Dept. NCAA Compliance Officer to identify trends and issues requiring academic intervention and education
*Prepares reports pertaining to position responsibilities and consults with university faculty/staff regarding student-athlete academic issues. Understands the NCAA policies regarding athletic participation to inform the details needed in reports
*Complete semester grade reports for each NCAA team, reviewing the report with the coach and Asst. Dean Academic Transitions
*Complete semester reports regarding student-athlete progress towards degree for each NCAA team, review report with coaches and Asst. Dean Academic Transitions
*Work closely with the Office of the Registrar and Athletic Department. NCAA Compliance officer, to provide reports for each coach regarding NCAA eligibility of students

Leadership/Advancement
*Work with Athletics Leadership Development Staff to support first-year student-athlete development programming, including Foundations and Student-Athlete Mentors
*Serve as primary point-person for the program for first-year student-athletes
*Research, develop and deliver content for kick-off day/student-athlete orientation
*Create curriculum for 6 huddles facilitated by Student-Athlete Mentors and 4 sessions facilitated by professional staff (this position and AD of Athletics Leadership Development) to be facilitated over the course of the fall semester
*Collaborate with Athletics Leadership Development to create and facilitate content for four staff facilitated sessions by team over the course of the spring semester
*Collaborate with the Office of First Year Experience to ensure (fall) student-athletes attend orientation and participate in make-up sessions and/or receive relevant information when scheduling conflicts occur
*Collaborate with the Office of First-Year Experience to ensure Foundations program aligns with bLUeprint initiatives and meets university requirements for NavigateLU and 5x10s for student-athletes
*Create opportunities to recognize and celebrate high scholastic achievement of student-athletes, academic improvement and other academic successes. Awards Committee/recommend student-athletes to areas of campus/alums, etc
Supervision
*Recruit, hire and train two graduate assistants who report directly to the FLIGHT 45 area to provide support for students; supervises graduate assistants and manages their responsibilities based on needs of the area. Build and strengthen relationship with School Counseling program; expand recruiting process to begin to recruit nationally for GAs interested in student-athlete development experience
Results
*Collaborate with university offices on issues that impact student-athletes' academic progress including Athletic Dept, Registrar, Academic Colleges, Financial Aid, Admissions, Academic Life and Student Transitions, Counseling Services, Center for Career and Professional Development, Multicultural Affairs, as examples
*Consult and work closely with the Assistant Dean of Student Athlete Leadership Development to coordinate relevant programs and make efficient use of team and coaches time
*Attend Athletic Department Faculty Advisory Committee meetings representing the Dean of Students Office/Academic Support; represent the Dean of Students Office and Athletic Department at important campus events and programs; be visible to student-athletes
*Collaborate with university partners across campus via retention and student success related committees work and projects to support the success of student-athletes

Qualifications
Master's Degree in Education, Counseling, Student Affairs, or a related field
Three to five years of related work experience
Experience in academic counseling, coaching, advising preferred
Knowledge of/experience with working with NCAA student-athletes helpful
Supervisory experience required
Effective collaborator and strong interpersonal skills
Experience with Leadership & First Year Student programming
Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as needed
Successful completion of standard background checks including but not limited to: social security verification, education verification, national criminal background checks, motor vehicle checks, PATCH, FBI fingerprinting, Child Abuse Clearance and credit history based upon the requirements of the position
