The Director of Student Athlete Development and Success will be responsible for the planning and implementation of programs and opportunities that are conducive to the academic, athletic, personal and professional development of student athletes.

You will:
Manage the creation, organization, and implementation of opportunities and programs for student athletes that have an emphasis on leadership development, professional development, community outreach, and personal development. Develop training for Freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors, and grad students.
Understand and be able to communicate the principles of a Student Athlete Development Program to a wide audience including but not limited to prospective student athletes, coaches, and campus partners. Be an administrative liaison to the SOAR program and sessions and recruitment orientation.
Assist in the planning, management and execution of departmental special events including but not limited to the Athletics Banquet, the Athletics Hall of Fame, and Recruiting Weekend and events, through collaboration with various groups within athletics, the University community, and external clients.
Collaborate closely with coaches to closely monitor student athlete academic success including arranging and conducting academic meetings with at-risk student athletes. Work closely with the Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance and Student Services monitoring mid-term and end of term academic status and intervening when necessary.
Work closely with the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Compliance and Student Services, the Faculty Athletics Representative, and coaches in the supervision of all student athlete alerts through Navigate.
Serve on the Campus Assessment Response and Education Team (CARE Team).
Serve as the point liaison between the Athletics Department and the Faculty Athletics Representative. Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between the Athletics Department and the FAR to enhance the development of our student athletes and their academic endeavors. Work with and reward Faculty and Staff that have been instrumental in the growth, development, and support of student athletes and Charger Athletics.
Collaborate with the Career Development Center to conceptualize, develop, and execute a comprehensive career development program and provide sessions tailored to equip student athletes with skills and resources for successful transition into post-graduation life. These programs need to be structured in a way that will be beneficial to all class groups.
Coordinate and work with the Athletics Wellness Coordinator in the effort to provide needed assistance to our student athletes.
Be responsible for the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
Work closely with and support the Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance and Student Services by assisting in the preparation of academic reports, eligibility reports, academic advising, and other essential tasks to ensure collaboration and compliance with institutional and NCAA expectations.
Spearhead the development of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) initiative and discussions. This will foster a supportive and inclusive environment for student athletes to thrive academically, athletically, socially and personally. Plan, manage and execute events and educations sessions for coaches and student athletes.
