The Director of Tiger Life is responsible for the leadership and oversight of the Tiger Life program for student-athlete development area to include personal development, financial literacy education, career development, and team-oriented community outreach programming for all student-athletes. The overarching aim of the Tiger Life department is to facilitate the holistic growth of student-athletes during their tenure at LSU, equipping them with the necessary skills for success both on and off the field and ensuring a seamless transition into post-college life.
40% Student-Athlete Development Oversight:
Holistic Development: As a member of the Comprehensive Education Team, collaborate with various departments to provide developmental programming to address an array of student-athlete needs within the following areas: personal development, financial literacy, career development, civic engagement, and community service; Regularly assess programmatic initiatives to ensure effectiveness; Create community outreach opportunities for student-athletes; maintain, update, and monitor the community service database; Communicate information to include: tips, facts, and messages to student-athletes and staff as it pertains topersonal and professional development
Professional Development: Develop, plan, and implement career development programs that address and articulate the four year career timeline; Recruit potential employers to develop and promote internships and job opportunities for student-athletes; Promote career development opportunities for student-athletes through various mediums; Create and maintain a career development library/information center; Provide career coaching to student-athletes; Assist student-athletes in resume and cover letter development; Assist student-athletes with graduate school preparation and the job search process; Ensure that all programming is dedicated to improvingthe welfare and development of all student-athletes; Coordinate annual events to educate and honor.
25% Leadership Enhancement/Advising and Supervising:
Serve as the primary advisor for the Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) to include but not limited to, engaging in regular meetings with general membership, executive board, and leadership positions, developing and delivering leadership education and retreat/social opportunities, assist in execution of all SAAC lead events, integration of SAAC collaboration into large educational programming; Supervise Graduate Assistant(s) and Student Workers to include but not limited to, oversee all departmental social media pages and communication.
20% Support and Collaboration:
Serve as the departmental liaison between the Academic Center for Student-Athletes, Athletic Administration, and SAAC representatives; Assist with programming for Summer Academic Success Program for incoming student-athletes; Serve as the liaison between student-athletes and community service organizations;
5% Advances and supports LSU and Athletics Department initiatives through personal participation in educational and developmental opportunities, as well as participation in the creation of an inclusive culture consistent with the values of LSU and its Athletics Department; Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with three year of post-secondary experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree. Preference given to degrees in higher education, educational leadership, business administration, psychology, social work , counseling or related field.
Special or Physical Requirements
Demonstrate leadership skills and proficiency in administering academic support programming to prepare student-athletes for life after post-secondary education and demonstrate an understanding of student development; Exceptional oral and written communications skills; Excellent conflict resolution, project management, business management, and human relations skills. Must be willing to work irregular hours, nights, and some weekends.
