Job Description
Job Summary
The Director, Sports Information ensures that information about the University's intercollegiate athletics programs is available to the public in a timely and effective manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develops and directs a comprehensive program of sports coverage which focuses on both competitive and non-competitive activities and includes information on student-athletes and teams.
Provides information to electronic and print media outlets, develops publications for sports programs.
Maintains statistical data, records, and history on current and past student-athletes and teams.
Develops and maintains an effective presence on the web and with the most appropriate forms of new media.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities
Leads, directs, mentors and oversees the athletic communications staff.
Assists to develop and implement a comprehensive public relations program. Promotes the athletic program, teams, and contests.
Assist in all athletic special events, fundraising, promotions and other activities related to athletics
Develop and execute all student-athlete leadership initiatives and development efforts. Oversight of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and mentor programs.
With the help of the Academic Athletic Advisor, oversee NCAA CHAMPS/Life Skills program.
Minimum Requirements
Education – Bachelor’s Degree in communications, public relations, sports administration, marketing, business management or related field
Experience – Five years of related experience.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Preferred Education and Experience
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Knowledge of:
In-game statistical program.
Desktop media and other software programs.
Preferred Knowledge and Experience
Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)
Familiarity with live-streaming software (Production Truck, Wirecast, etc.)
Enhanced leadership and strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to make independent decisions and think and act assertively.
Ability to interact effectively and professionally with University community, outside community, and press.
Must possess a commitment to student learning and success, as well as a dedication to growth, development, innovation, and improvement.
Must possess sensitivity to a diverse background of students (academic, socio-economic, cultural/ethnic, physical/learning disabilities).
Must possess commitment and capabilities to abide by NCAA by laws and Lone Star Conference regulations.
