Director-Sports Information
Institutional representative to the media for all athletic activities. Including the reporting on athletic events, teams and student-athletes; writes original press releases and maintains a historical record of students and teams to be used by both the print and broadcast media during and after sporting events.
Essential Duties:
Report on the athletic events, various teams and athletes at Chadron State College, including new programs, and honors of student athletes for the media. Disseminate articles to all the news media in western Nebraska, to the students’ hometown media sources, and to statewide and national publications whenever appropriate

Essential Duties:
Report on the athletic events, various teams and athletes at Chadron State College, including new programs, and honors of student athletes for the media. Maintain and update Athletic web site and social media with accurate statistics and records, media releases, athletic events, upcoming games and general Athletic department information
Responsible for appropriate documentation and cataloging of all statistics, records and general information relating to Athletics. Calculate accurate reports and file weekly statistics and scores to
RMAC
and
NCAA
. Travel with athletic teams as assigned by Director of Athletics
Compose and distribute post game reports and news releases to national, regional, and local media sources including radio, TV, and print news as needed
Manage all home game statistical personnel and other personnel including coaching and student staff needed at the scorers’ table or press box. Coordinate game logistics including PA system and scoreboard
Develop and coordinate media guides and game programs for all sports programs. Assist coaches with writing and disseminating appropriate recruiting materials for specific sports programs. Help create and write other marketing documents
Maintain statistical and historical records for all varsity sports including, but not limited to, football, basketball, track and field, wrestling, golf, softball, and volleyball
Serve on various committees and work on activities such as Athletic Hall of Fame, Homecoming, Scholastic Contest, Family Day, various sport team reunions
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics
Secondary Duties:
Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, or a related field
Previous experience working in a collegiate athletic department, professional sports, a conference office, sports communications
Computer experience including knowledge of website, Adobe products, and various social media platforms
Ability to use Stat Crew statistical software
Photography skills
Video publishing
The physical requirements for this position may include, but are not necessarily limited to, the ability to use a computer, calculator, telephone, keyboard, and/or various types of office equipment. Must be able to effectively communicate in verbal and written formats and satisfactorily perform the functions of this position.
