Missouri Valley College is seeking a dynamic and motivated individual for the position of Distance Coach. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and developing the cross country program, overseeing distance events on the track, fostering a competitive team environment, and ensuring a positive experience for student-athletes.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Leadership: Develop and maintain a successful cross country program that competes at a high level within the conference and nationally.
Coaching and Training: Design and implement training plans that enhance athletic performance, focusing on developing athletes’ skills and strategies for both individual and team success.
Recruitment: Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes who will contribute positively to the program and meet the academic standards of Missouri Valley College.
Student-Athlete Development: Mentor student-athletes academically and athletically, promoting their personal growth, sportsmanship, and commitment to team values.
Scheduling and Competitions: Plan, organize, and coordinate all aspects of the cross country schedule, including practices, meets, and travel arrangements.
Collaboration: Work closely with the track coach and athletics administration to support the college’s mission, vision, and goals, including fundraising efforts and community relations.
Compliance: Ensure adherence to all NAIA, conference, and institutional regulations and policies.
Program Management: Oversee budgeting and financial planning for the cross country program, including equipment, travel, and other operational needs.
Community Engagement: Promote the cross country and track program within the local community and engage in outreach activities to enhance the visibility of the program.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred in a related field
Previous coaching experience in cross country at the collegiate level is highly desirable
Strong knowledge of distance training techniques and strategies.
Proven ability to recruit and develop student-athletes in a competitive environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships within the team and with the wider college community.
Commitment to the academic success and welfare of student-athletes
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

As a pre-condition of employment, the applicant must be authorized to work in the United States. Employment at MVC is contingent upon satisfactory completion of background check. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required. May require occasional overnight travel.
