Candidates are encouraged to apply for our newly-created, part-time Head Club Esports Coach position at Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, PA. This position will report to the Assistant Athletic Director of Campus Recreation and will be responsible for enhancing our current club esports team by recruiting student-players to the institution to participate on our club esports team, managing the budget, oversee the general operations, coach, develop skill, oversee esports lab, maintain equipment, and build program identity. The Head Coach will work with the Assistant Athletic Director of Campus Recreation to devise a competition schedule each year and strategize game selection.The preferred candidate will have the ability to work a flexible schedule, includingevenings and weekends. Travel for team tournaments and recruiting will be required.
Essential Duties: Recruit and retain students for the eSports program Collaborate with other on-campus departments including, but not limited to, Athletics and Recreation, Information Technology, Enrollment Management, and Marketing and Communications Work with university staff and faculty on recruiting efforts and assigning scholarships Initiate and run practice, competition, and team building activities Create and maintain a positive team culture that focuses on building both gaming and life skills consistent with the mission and values of the Department of Athletics and Campus Recreation Oversee and manage program budget Provide guidance and input on games selected for club sport competition. Offer regular feedback on equipment upgrades, updates, and maintenance Coordinate off-season activity, practice schedules, and competition schedules Organize team travel when required Monitor and mentor the academic and mental well-being of players Review agreements, contract deadlines, rules, and compliance within any associated league, conference, and affiliates. Oversee all practices and matches held by team members ensuring game integrity and player safety. Ability to envision and drive growth for the university’s Esports program. Ensure all persons and functions of the program exemplify the mission of Saint Joseph’s University. Complete all required paperwork related to team travel and competition in a timely manner. Comply with and complete all University required training in accordance with institutional deadlines. Travel with team to away competitions. Other duties as assigned.
Conduct camps, clinics, and promotional events to help market the program to potential students.

The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
