The Esports Head Coach will develop and lead the esports program at Concordia College. Primary duties of the position include teaching, supporting, and advising students within the esports program, as well as fostering a team culture that promotes the students’ development and holistic success at the college. The Esports Head Coach is also responsible for the day-to-day operation of the esports program, including, but not limited to, recruitment of players, player skill development, scheduling of practices, scrimmages, and matches, maintaining equipment and facilities, supervising student assistants, and other duties as necessary to support the esports program.
Bachelor’s degree related to Coaching, teaching or related field, and/or competitive esports experience involving the most popular esports titles, including but not limited to Rocket League, League of Legends, Overwatch, Smash Brothers, etc. Understanding of and commitment to best practices in supporting and advocating for diverse college students.
Experience managing or assisting on accounts for teams, social media accounts for organizations and providing clear, concise reports to administration.
Community building experience, preferably in the collegiate environment, through channels such as Discord, Tournaments, Local Parks & Rec departments, or other means.
Valid Driver’s License and meet eligibility requirements to rent a campus car per college policy as needed.
Ability to operate computer equipment in esports Lab/Arena including knowledge of gaming platforms and supporting websites. Ability to troubleshoot equipment for the optimal gaming experience.
Must have competitive-level experience with multiplayer online video games.
This is a .75
FTE
position that requires day, evening, and weekend availability.
Strong communication skills including presentation and training experience.
Ability to successfully plan large-scale events.
Demonstrated experience managing fiscal resources.
Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy.
