Responsible for assisting in the set-up, coordination, and execution of events and operations taking place on the campus of Hillsdale College, primarily but not limited to the Roche Sports Complex, Biermann Tennis and Track facility, and the adjoining spaces, and also campus-wide events. This position requires a flexible schedule to work evenings and/or weekends.
Essential Job Duties
Set up and coordinate events at Roche Sports Complex, Biermann Tennis & Track Facility, Hayden Park, and other College venues.
Serving as a liaison between the College and outside constituents (athletic teams and associated personnel) as well as College departments and staff.
Coordinate and assist with pre-event and/or pre-game setup and tear down.
a. Equipment and facilities set up (player’s benches, baskets, scorer’s table, score clocks, bleachers, football and arena press boxes, PA system, digital display systems, etc.) All set ups to include indoor and outdoor events.
a. Moving, setup, and teardown of tables, chairs, mobile bars, stages, etc.
b. Campus food trucks
Work with and or coordinate with various campus departments, including but not limited to Audio/Video, Catering, and the Physical Plant, in helping facilitate and or utilize their services in the completion of event duties and needs.
Assist as needed with summer camp programs as it pertains to the effective utilization and use of College facilities.
Work with and assist the Director of Campus Event Management and Operations in achieving the broader goals surrounding campus events while maintaining athletics as the primary area of focus.
Be prepared to utilize the College’s preferred method of event request and management software, as well as assist key personnel in the submission and managing of event requests.
Perform any and all other tasks and projects as assigned.
Requires a high school diploma, a bachelor’s degree preferred, and two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience that fulfills the needs of the College.
Must have a customer-oriented mentality in working with external parties, especially officials, fans, and visiting teams.
Possess superior organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
Ability to work in a team and manage others.
Ability to remain accessible and available in the event of emergencies or when needed to meet the ongoing mission of the College.
Adhere to all safety standards and work practices established by the College.
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing and to take instruction in either verbal or written form.
Ability to utilize technology, including Microsoft Office and Outlook, for projects and communication.
Ability to bend, stoop, climb, and lift.
Requires average physical strength.
Ability to get from one work site to another. This could mean some traveling across campus.
