ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
The USF Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is an integral part of USF and its mission by sponsoring a diverse and nationally competitive Division I athletic program. The program serves several significant constituencies, including its student-athletes, who are students first. The most important priority of the program is the progress of the student-athletes toward graduation. Other priorities include the health, fitness and emotional development of student-athletes at USF. Intercollegiate Athletics provide a sense of collegiality, allegiance, and pride for students, staff, faculty, alumni, boosters and the greater Tampa Bay community at large and serves as a focal point for their support. Within the framework of competitive excellence, Intercollegiate Athletics at USF is also a contact vehicle leading supporters to a greater awareness of the University's mission, academic programs and prominence as an educational institution.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Associate Directors of Events, this position assists with the planning and execution of event management and facility operations for the University of South Florida Athletics Department. Plans, organizes, and coordinates support groups within the Athletic Department, the University, and external groups. Provides
leadership and organizational skills prior to, during, and after all athletic events to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all in attendance. Serves as the main point of contact for security, concessions, visiting team, and officials. In addition, ensures that all daily facilities tasks are being handled and planning of facilities projects, repairs, and
preventative maintenance are all being well communicated and executed. Adheres to all NCAA, Conference, and University rules and regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary sport contact for all gameday operations for Mens Soccer, Womens Lacrosse and track and Field
Ensuring all game management protocols are followed to allow for a safe environment for all student athletes, staff, and fans attending the events. Ensures effective adherence to the applicable national, state, and university crowd control/safety/access codes and policies
Serves as primary liaison between the visiting team coaches, officials, and conference representatives for their assigned sports.
Manages all logistics to ensure a safe and positive experience for these groups. Prepares logistical packets (i.e. Visiting Team Guides) for use by visiting teams and groups prior to their arrival.
Secondary sport contact for all gameday operations for Women's Basketball and Men's and Women's Tennis. Assists the Primary sport contact with all game management related tasks in preparation for event days.
Football gameday responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, management of our Herd Helpers program and assisting with all setup and breakdown of football games.
Secondary contact for the credentialing system. Support the director of event management with day to day credential operational needs. Includes but not limited to: managing incoming requests, physically making credentials, keeping an active inventory of the current credentials.
Manages the Indoor Practice Facility- oversees the daily scheduling and facility management of the IPF; manages any external event rentals and/or requests for the building
DV Sport Replay- Hire, train, retain our DV Sport replay technicians for Football, Men's and Women's Basketball. Schedule replay technicians for the games. Manage any issues with current system. Collaborate with the conference and facility staff on system upgrades and ensure the upgrades happen seamlessly
Assists in coordinating drink order for all athletics events to supply staff with drinks during the events
Performs other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree in communication, marketing, public relations, technical writing, digital media, or related field, with two years of experience in related positions; or a Master's degree in the fields listed above. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
FLSB1310 Equivalency:
4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.
6 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for master's degree.
PREFERRED:
Master's degree with two years of experience in collegiate or professional sports event management
