Job Description

Position Function:

This is a highly experienced level staff position in which the incumbent functions as support to the Head Coach and his staff. The incumbent performs both administrative and clerical duties and is given broad latitude and judgment within the framework of sound office practices for performing duties that involve a high degree of proficiency, discretion, and confidentiality. The work involves frequent contact with persons within and outside of the University system for the purpose of exchanging information. The incumbent receives instructions on a general basis from immediate supervisor and may coordinate the work of other support staff. This position reports to the Head Coach.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Assists the Head Football Coach and his staff in problem solving, project planning and management, and development and execution of stated goals and objectives.
  2. Coordinates and maintains calendar of appointments, including interviewing callers and making appropriate referrals.
  3. Performs research and analysis on specific issues, as required and assigned; independently prepares non-routine letters and/or reports, which may be highly sensitive and confidential in nature.
  4. Serves as primary point of administrative contact and serves as liaison with other offices, individuals, and external institutions/agencies on a range of specified issues; organizes and facilitates meetings, conferences, and other special events, as required.
  5. May oversee and administer the day-to-day activities of one or more specialized program initiatives for the unit, as assigned.
  6. Provides and/or oversees the provision of staff support to the football department to include scheduling and maintaining calendars; screening, analyzing, and preparing responses to incoming correspondence; handling day-to-day public relations and problem solving.
  7. Uses personal computer and software to type technical and non-technical correspondence, reports, and other similar documents requiring knowledge of spelling, punctuation, and syntax sufficient to identify and correct grammatical errors. Makes independent decisions regarding format and arrangement.
