Department Information 
The Georgia Tech Athletic Associate (GTAA) sponsors varsity intercollegiate athletics competition in 17 NCAA Division I sports for the Georgia Institute of Technology. We are a proud member of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Steeped in history and success while embracing strategic innovation, our programs compete at the highest level and strive for national championships. Tech fans are passionate about their support of their beloved Yellow Jackets and cherish the many traditions involved with the program. 

Job Summary

 

Provide strategic leadership and direction across Georgia Tech (GT) Athletics, with particular oversight of several departments and sport programs with varying roles and functions supporting the overall organization, as assigned by the Director of Athletics. Responsible for making hiring recommendations to the Director of Athletics, setting employee goals, assessing employee performance and providing feedback, and making pay recommendations. This position will interact on a regular basis with: Institute executives, campus partners, external partners, and student athletes.
This position typically will advise and counsel: Athletics staff, head coaches and student athletes. This position will supervise: Assigned staff

Responsibilities

 

Job Duty 1 -
Provide oversight, leadership, and direct support with assigned strategic projects for GT Athletics.

Job Duty 2 -
Actively participate as a strategic leader and member of the GT Athletics senior leadership team.

Job Duty 3 -
Represent GT Athletics with efforts and initiatives involving operational and business partners, and with intercollegiate athletics organizations such as the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).

Job Duty 4 -
Lead search process for hiring any position that falls in the direct reporting line of the Executive Associate AD, including head coaches, and make a recommendation to the Director of Athletics regarding the hire.

Job Duty 5 -
Maintain knowledge of conference and national best practices and standards related to all units and sport programs under direct supervision and advise the Director of Athletics as needed.

Job Duty 6 -
Provide advice and leadership in the development and formulation of Athletics policies and procedures.

Job Duty 7 -
Provide oversight and leadership for assigned areas of responsibility.

Job Duty 8 -
Carry out all responsibilities involved in the management of direct reports and their teams.

Job Duty 9 -
Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

 

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Sports Administration or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Experience
Ten to twelve years job related experience.

KNOWLEDGE
This job requires advanced knowledge of college athletics administration.

SKILLS
This job requires excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills; exceptional skills in communication, strategic planning, organization, decision-making, facilitating change, guiding and developing staff, and conflict management.
