Centered on a departmental mission of “Be More” Hopkins Athletics and Recreation is in a period of fast-paced progress and building on its strong foundation. This new chapter includes investments in state-of-the-art athletic and recreation facilities, innovative programming and partnerships, mental and physical well-being, and strengthening the connections between holistic student development and the professional world.

Johns Hopkins offers a robust recreation program that includes group fitness classes, personal training, outdoor experiential education, aquatic activities, sports clubs, and intramural sports. In a typical year, our programs and facilities receive approximately 250,000 visits from students, staff, and faculty. The Department of Recreation is the largest employer of students on campus and provides robust student leadership development opportunities. In 2021, Hopkins Athletics and Recreation completed a $27 million renovation and expansion of the Ralph S. O’Connor Center for Recreation and Well-Being. Built as a cross-collaborative campus destination, the facility features all-new state-of-the-art equipment for strength and cardiovascular training, expanded group fitness offerings, and mindfulness and meditation programming. The focus is on fostering holistic student health, a community of care, and an increased emphasis on self-care and well-being.

The Hopkins Recreation department seeks an innovative and forward-thinking Facilities and Aquatics Coordinator. The Facilities and Aquatics Coordinator is responsible for managing the Facilities & Aquatics teams as well as the day-to-day operations of the Ralph S. O’Connor Center for Recreation & Well-Being. Duties include staff management, training, scheduling, providing customer service, supporting facility oversight, aquatics programming, special events, and varsity athletic events. Demonstrating adherence to the department philosophy, policies, and communication responsibilities is essential. The strongest candidates will have a demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, team-based environment and a strong history of building and sustaining relationships with staff, students, and coaches. The Facilities and Aquatics Coordinator is directly supervised by the Assistant Director of Facilities and Aquatics. This position has significant interactions with faculty and staff, students, and other outside constituencies, and must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.
