Must possess, as a minimum, a high-school diploma.
Must have a minimum of two years’ experience in a related position.
Must have a basic understanding of general maintenance functions and issues.
Must have a solid understanding of good office management and financial knowledge in relation to budgeting and general ledger accounts.
Must have experience with computers and have a basic working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel with some familiarity with web-based applications and internet search tools.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Instruct student-athletes in the various aspects of strength and conditioning.
Responsible for implementing a strength and conditioning program both in and off season for designated programs including planning, coaching, managing and directing the entire program operation.
Assist with all team stretch routines during lifting including the teaching and instruction of specific skills necessary for fielding a competitive team.
Develop and maintain a positive team image that represents Culver-Stockton College in a manner consistent with the C-SC mission.
Assist with the monitoring and maintenance of discipline and conduct of student-athletes in the weight room to support the image and reputation of the C-SC athletics program.
Assist in making sure that all student-athletes have been medically cleared to participate in lifting and having alternate plans for injured student-athletes
Maintain current knowledge of NAIA rules and regulations.
Oversee the athletic weight room and notify the Director of Athletics of any issues with these facilities. Oversee the student workers in the weight room.
Assist with inventory of the equipment dedicated to the weight room and ensure that all equipment used is safe and in functional condition and make recommendations to the Athletic Director of equipment that needs to be replaced or purchased.
Specific Requirements:
Management of day-to-day office functions in the Physical Plant while maintaining a professional and efficient work environment. Proactively prioritizes needs and effectively manages resources and time.
Communicates daily with the Director of Facilities regarding facility issues that have been reported, staffing issues that have been reported or any other nature of business that concerns the Physical Plant. Must communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally.
Responsible for greeting all College employees, students, visitors and sales vendors in a friendly and professional manner and directing their needs/concerns accordingly.
Answering phone calls in a professional manner and distributing messages to the appropriate personnel.
Works with the Director of Facilities regarding staffing issues and at low staff times may have daily duties within buildings assigned such as cleaning, mopping, scrubbing, sanitizing floors and other surfaces as well as refinishing, waxing and polishing floors in stairwells, hallways, restrooms and office spaces.
Will assist the Director of Facilities with time card management for non-exempt employees including the entering of vacation, sick, or other time into the appropriate payroll system or other type of documentation.
Inspects work for conformance to prescribed standards of cleanliness and reports any issues to the Director of Facilities.
Responsible for the coordination of campus event set-up and tear-down and assists with the coordination of work activities within the department regarding these events. Assist with the set-up including setting up tables and chairs as necessary. Guides employees toward desired outcomes, setting high performance standards and delivering leading quality skills.
Assists with the coordination of work orders to the appropriate staff members and helps with the allocation of general work to other Physical Plant employees. When possible, should try to assist with completing those work orders.
Assumes responsibility for managing and coding any billing materials sent to the Physical Plant, such as invoices or packing receipts, and maintains all records in an organized system.
Conducts an inventory of the supply room to ensure an adequate amount of supplies are in place and available for use.
Completes order requests for cleaning supplies and equipment replenishment.
Makes recommendations to improve the service and efficiency of the housekeeping department.
Assumes responsibility for keeping the key logs accurate and updated.
Verifies that all drivers are on the College Approved Drivers List.
Attends staff meetings to discuss job specific topics and the day-to-day operation of the college.
Maintains the confidentiality of college information and respects the personal property or belongings of other staff that may be found in rooms or offices.
Specific Requirements:
Assures that the Director of Facilities is informed of any and all issues that have been reported to the Physical Plant.
Supports and adheres to all College policies and procedures and supports the Director of Facilities in decisions regarding those policies and procedures.
Actively works with the other physical plant staff to complete assignments and projects on a daily basis.
Assists with maintaining facilities in a sanitary and infection free condition through washing, cleaning and replacing of equipment and furnishings.
Must report all hazardous conditions or equipment to the Director of Facilities.
Must be willing to work in the presence of dirt, dust and fumes.
Must follow all established safety policies and procedures when performing tasks and using equipment and supplies.
Must keep work area free of hazardous conditions, i.e., spills, excess supplies or unnecessary equipment, broken equipment, etc.
Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with other staff, students, visitors and the general public.
Must have the ability to effectively manage staff and must communicate concerns to the Director of Facilities regarding staff issues.
Must be able to multi-task in a high stress environment and meet deadlines while maintaining a professional attitude at all times.
Must be able to follow written and oral instructions concerning the mixture of cleaning compounds, liquids and cleaning instructions.
Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
Working Conditions:
Works in all areas of the campus.
Sits, stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during working hours.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds and must be able to lift and carry 25 pounds of weight for extended periods of time.
Is subject to frequent interruptions and may need to reschedule responsibilities and activities accordingly.
Is involved with students, faculty, staff and the general public under all conditions and circumstances.
May be required to work beyond normal working hours, on weekends and holidays, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.
Attends and participates in continuing educational programs designed to keep abreast of changes in the profession.
Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
