| Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
The Department of Athletics exists to provide educational and athletic opportunities to young men and women, to provide an environment for student-athletes to learn, advance and excel both academically and athletically, and to serve the interests of the University by complimenting and enhancing its diversity and quality of life. Through its athletic programs, the University seeks to unite alumni, faculty, administration and students in a common shared experience. The governing unit within the Department of Athletics is the Director’s Office, which is the administrative office and clearinghouse for the entire Department of Athletics, and promotes the department’s guiding principle of educating and inspiring through athletics. This unit provides support to administrators, coaches, staff members and student-athletes in order to provide and promote a premier intercollegiate athletic program for The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Department of Athletics is a highly visible public relations arm of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with statewide, national and international recognition.

| Position Summary |
This position is responsible for performing commercial multi-trades maintenance (carpentry, electrical and plumbing) on the building systems including arena lighting, sound system, video walls, switches, receptacles, toilets, showers, sinks, dry wall, and painting, as well as provide set up and support of games, practices and special events. Position will have extended overtime hours on weekdays and weekends. Responsibilities include the maintenance, repair, replacement, fabrication, installation and construction of building components. Performs work requests and seek clarification when needed.

| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Optional Guidelines: Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the area of assignment may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

| Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Ability to demonstrate working knowledge of the methods, practices, tools, and materials used in commercial building maintenance and repair. Demonstrated competencies in maintenance, repair, replacement, fabrication, installation, and construction of facility components. Demonstrated multi-trades experience (carpentry, electrical and plumbing) in building maintenance field. Ability to use the tools for carpentry, electrical and plumbing trades. Ability to plan, problem solve and work safely. Demonstrate great teamwork and communication skills with both fellow workers and other building staff. Ability to serve as a mandatory employee and report to work in support of mandatory University operations, even when adverse weather or other emergency conditions require the University to close. Ability to provide set-up and support of games, practices, and special events, including working extended overtime hours on weekdays and weekends. North Carolina Driver’s License or ability to obtain one prior to start date. Ability to establish good working relationships and communication skills with co-workers and building staff.

Experience in the performance of the full range of journey level tasks associated with commercial building maintenance. Ability to advance work plan goals and competencies.

Ability to stand for extended periods of time; navigate stairs; climb ladders; work in small, tight spaces and bend, stoop, crawl and squat to complete work; work at heights above 120 feet; ability to move 100 lbs. and 50 lbs. overhead; ability to wear required PPE for the specific job, including but not limited too: safety harnesses, fall protection, respirators, face masks or face shields, and protective gloves; ability to work in stressful conditions and under critical timelines.
