Position Summary:
New Jersey Institute of Technology, an NCAA Division I institution located in the University Heights district of Newark, NJ is accepting applications for the full-time position of Marketing & Promotions Coordinator. Responsible for the day to day administration of the Athletics marketing and promotions program with a focus on increasing the overall visibility of NJIT Highlander Athletics and assisting with revenue generation.

Essential Functions:
-Responsible for creating visual assets and designs for digital marketing and ticketing initiatives and campaigns.
- Plan, direct, and execute in-game promotional efforts including the creation of game scripts, management of music & videoboard, promotional activities, and the coordination of spirit squads (Highlander mascot, pep band, cheerleaders, and dance team).
- In collaboration with the Ticket Manager, develop and implement campus & community outreach programing with a focus towards increased ticket revenue.
- Initiate & build relationships with individuals. Work in a professional & positive manner within the department (event operations, media relations, ticket operations, advancement, coaching staffs & athletic teams) and with on-campus constituents and externally.
- Responsible for campus marketing strategies that promote and inspire fan engagement, campus participation and attendance from students, staff, faculty and alumni.
- Represent Athletics on various committees especially with on-campus partnerships (Student Life, Greek Life, Residential Life, Student Senate).
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with key accounts, partners and sponsors, and assist in creating & implementing sponsorship initiatives.
- Assist in planning, development and implementation of department's short and long-range marketing strategies to help improve overall brand awareness (print, digital, etc.).
- Increase brand awareness by promoting and coordinating the Highlander mascot's appearances in the community.
- Oversee the student spirit groups (pep band, cheer, and dance team) and the mascot.
- Assist media relations with the oversight & management of Highlander social media accounts.
- This position will assist with community outreach for all athletic and related special events.
- Comply with all NCAA, conference, and NJIT University rules and policies.

Prerequisite Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Experience in public relations or marketing & sales, or sports management in the collegiate or professional level.
- Excellent verbal and written skills.
- Strong computer skills with a proficiency in Microsoft Office and database applications.
- Experience and skill in graphic design, Adobe Photoshop.
- The ability to work nights, weekends and holidays as necessary.
-At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
Preferred Qualifications:
-Previous sales experience preferred.
- Ability to multi-task, to prioritize workload, and to adapt to a quick changing environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work professionally and effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
- Ability to work successfully as both a member of a team and independently with minimal supervision.
- One or more years of experience working in intercollegiate athletics administration.
- Advanced knowledge of NCAA Division I rules.
- Strong organizational & time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
