Gettysburg College is seeking an Assistant/Intern Field Hockey Coach to work in the Athletics Department. This position will be responsible for assisting the Head Field Hockey Coach in the areas of coaching, including recruiting, academic monitoring, strength and conditioning, video technology. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the Executive Director of Athletics and Campus Recreation as required. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Create and implement strength and conditioning program during non-traditional season. Assist with all coaching duties during traditional and non traditional season, including player development, practice planning, team strategy analysis. Assist with film breakdown, scouting, and general game day preparation. Assist with identifying, contacting and recruiting prospective student-athletes. Handle academic monitoring and ensure academic success. Plan and coordinate travel, including itineraries, hotels, and meals. Plan, promote, and conduct camps and clinics. Serve as contributing member of athletic department and college community. Perform related duties as assigned. The position is paid on an hourly basis at a competitive wage, and the individual is eligible to participate in the College’s fringe benefit program, including: medical, dental and vision insurance. A meal plan is also provided.
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree required. Goalkeeping experience preferred. College and/or relevant competitive club coaching experience preferred. Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in the environment of an academically demanding liberal arts institution. Working knowledge of NCAA rules and commitment to holistic student-athlete experience. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and cross-cultural abilities to maximize effectiveness with diverse groups of students and colleagues. Strong organizational and administrative skills and ability to initiate and complete tasks in a fast-paced environment.
