Essential Functions:
Ongoing financial & operational activities for UMD Athletics, Human Resources, Police (50%):
• Monthly financial reporting, reconciliation, review, and analysis of budgets
• Provide financial advice and/or recommendations to senior administration
• Budget preparation including tracking of historical trends, knowledge of the market and its impact on departmental revenues, foundation accounts, and managing the chart of accounts
• Departmental support for NCAA post season budget submission and reporting, championship reimbursement submission. (Athletics).
• Resource person for all University policy and procedure issues related to financial transactions, and for Chrome River travel submissions
• Oversight and auditing of accounts receivable balances
Compliance and reporting for UMD Athletics to external entities (15%):
• Provide technical knowledge of NCAA Gender Equity and Department of Education Gender Equity and Title IX compliance.
• Preparation of both NCAA Financial Reporting and Department of Education Gender Equity Studies reports for submission to respective agencies.

• Work with external auditors on AUP NCAA audit.
Scholarship oversight for UMD Athletics (10%):
• Oversight for Athletics U of M foundation transactions related to gift funds for programs and scholarship processing.
• Monitor and update scholarship tracking and reporting.
Administrative activities for UMD Athletics (5%):
• Finance and Operations representation in Athletics administration meetings/decision making that will have financial impact on budget.
Sales tax, data practices, and misc monitoring of financial activities (5%):
• Monthly submission of sales tax data and payment to MN Department of Revenue
• Internal contact for data practices requests that relate to UMD Athletics finances
• Monitor payroll accounting and determine need for direct payroll retro adjustments
• Prepare information needed to process journal entries
Financial Approvals (5%)
• Online financial approval of EFS transactions to include all purchasing, purchasing card activity (all areas), and travel documents in Chrome River (Athletics)
Payroll, Tax and Sponsored activity (5%):
• UM Payroll contact for reporting on taxable fringe benefits for payroll deduction submissions
• Liaison with Tax Office on tax related issues
• Work within sponsored projects as needed for Athletics and Police
Non-financial oversight responsibilities (5%):
• Contact for UM Department of Audits on audit-related requests, working with staff to take corrective action on audit findings and recommendations
• Contact for Athletics, Human Resources and Police on University policy
• Liaison with Risk Management as it relates to certificates of insurance required by above contracts
• Coordinate with Facilities Management on facilities related issues for review and action
• Support and special projects as needed for the UMD Office of Budget and Analysis
This is a 1.0 FTE, 12-month, on-campus P&A position with some flex work arrangements available. Salary is dependent on experience and qualifications, and the range begins at $82,532.45/annually.
Required Qualifications:
BA/BS degree plus at least six years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with collegiate athletics operations.
