As Defensive Coordinator your primary responsibilities include: development and execution of defensive strategies to prevent opposing teams from scoring. You will work closely with the head coach to analyze opponents’ strengths and weaknesses, devise game plans, and coordinate defensive schemes during practices and games. Additionally, you will mentor and train defensive players, focusing on techniques, positioning, and teamwork to maximize their performance on the field. You will play a crucial role in shaping the team’s defensive identity and ensuring its competitive edge on the field.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for helping to promote and sell the philosophical approach established by the head coach.
Responsible for developing, organizing, and implementing an aggressive and fundamental defensive play package.
Responsible for instructing defensive staff on techniques and fundamentals necessary to execute play package.
Responsible for working in conjunction with the head coach to ensure our practice structure is conducive to goals of defense.
Responsible for all game plans, play calls, and game day adjustments for the defense.
Responsible for evaluating defensive performance daily and making appropriate corrections.
Responsible for keeping head coach aware of all defensive strategies.
Responsible for locker room checks daily to promote a prideful atmosphere.
Responsible for recruiting assigned areas and following the guidelines established by the head coach and recruiting coordinator.
Responsible for the professional development of the defensive staff.
Responsible for running check-in procedures during training camps and securing campus reservation needs.
Responsible for aiding in the development in Football Camps.
Responsible for coordinating all video activities.
Responsible for any other duties as assigned by head coach or recruiting coordinator.
Bachelor’s degree required.
Valid driver’s license.
Experience playing collegiate level football.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to recruit academically proficient student-athletes.
Experience with Hudl.
Knowledge of and adherence to
NCAA
Division II, and Southern Intercollegiate Athletic. Conference rules and regulations are also required.
Master’s degree.
Experience as an Offensive Coordinator, and/or extensive college coaching, recruiting experience.
